Catch Collection//Chill (Mint Vanilla) 2011

I love this snus. I can't say that enough. In May of 09 when I first started using Swedish Snus it was one of the first ones I tried, and I fell in love. I stocked up on it and used my last can a few weeks ago. So you can imagine how excited I was when I found out Swedish Match was doing a Greatest Hits, so to speak, of their popular Catch Collection and bringing this one back. Needless to say, I've stocked up again, and I hope this stuff lasts me just as long as last time. Maybe in 2013 they'll release it again - or even add it permanently some day, if sales figures permit. So, as we know, the Catch Collection releases a few limited edition snuses a few times a year in the mini portion format. This is the first of 3 to be released in 2011. I don't know why these keep coming out in mini size, I'm hoping someday they get upped to regular portion size.


When I review minis, I usually have to double barrel these, using two portions at once so I can get the full effect. The flavor of this one is identical to the last time I tried it, so my assumption that the recipe stayed the exact same is probably true. The mint comes through first, and is the predominant flavor, with the vanilla being the milder of the flavors, but pairing very well with the mint. I'm not one to write about "what drink goes with what snus" in my reviews, but hey - this one kinda warrants it. Vanilla Coke is killer with this snus. There isn't much of a salt flavor with this one, maybe a little but it's not too noticable. This snus isn't extremely sweet - I think the mint is more comparable to General Mint, but more subdued and then of course the vanilla, which isn't a sweet vanilla but more of a mellow vanilla. It all pairs together really well.

This sounds really good to me.. Being a huge mint and vanilla fan. Just not cost effective because I would have to double barrell as well.

This one was a surprise to me, I cannot stand mint/sweet snus but I love this one. Bought two cans with my last order because I loved that crest vanilla mint toothpaste they used to make, still have a few tubes actually. It was one of the first I tried from my order and I instantly loved it, and am enjoying it immensely. Doesn't taste much like the toothpaste, but its similar and very flavorful. The mint is dominant and the vanilla comes on slower, I would rather if the vanilla was the dominant flavor with the mint as an undertone, but regardless it works well the way it is. There is some tobacco flavor that comes through, but not much unless you are looking for it. First try was double-barreled for a nic buzz, but I may use this single as a dessert snus to make it last, though I do wish they would release it as a regular sized white portion.

I also decided to take chad's advice and try it with vanilla coke, and damn, it is amazing. I don't usually drink anything but water or coffee with snus, but the vanilla coke really sets of the vanilla flavor of the snus and mixes it great with the mint. A must try for any snus connoisseur.

I will definitely be getting more of this one, most likely a roll since it probably won't be back again.

But at some point, this is the new reality - make the snus - send in the paperwork - sell it in the US.

Not to derail this thread or mix it with the EU thread, but I hope this EU thing leads to a lot more manufacturers registering with the FDA. I heard from another webstore that they lost half their business when the EU thing went down. And that's a lot of money. Now that people are going to have to order from the US I hope that prompts a lot of folks to register with the FDA so the EU folks can get their usual lineup (within reason, no Lucky, etc), and the folks who use Northerner can get a bigger variety (folks in the US).

I still have the last two collection cans (I think it's elder lime and something else) uncracked in the freezer... Haven't even tried them yet.
But I LOVE VANILLA!

I should have just got the roll to begin with, but I didn't really think I would like it that much so I just got two cans. I got to get another order together, there is no way I am going to pay the $29 shipping for one roll of snus.

Just tried this with my new order that came...love this stuff! I'm a HUGE fan of vanilla and this is a refreshing change from the other portions I normally use. I'd buy a roll of the regular size, I have the minis...not enough kick for me.

The vanilla flavor really comes out after about 10-15 minutes and is enjoyable the entire time.
