    Review from my blog.

    --
Forget everything you think you know about Marlboro Snus.

That's right. Because there's a new Marlboro Snus being sold by Swedish Match, and it's everything the Marlboro name should be and nowhere near as bad as that crappy American product I've wrote about here, here, here, and in it's newest incarnation - here. Originally, I wasn't quite sure how this was going to turn out to be honest. It was initially being described as having a unique taste profile which is reminiscent of the traditional Marlboro aroma. So I wasn't sure how Sweden was going to handle the traditional Marlboro product, which is as American as apple pie it seems, but I've been pleasantly surprised with how well this turned out. So, on to the reviews.

To start, the product description for Marlboro Strong Portion from BuySnus.com states, "Rich and round tobacco flavor with hints of chocolate, vanilla and herbs, and slightly roasted coffee and dark wood. Format Description: Pouch that fits well under the lip. Humidified for fast and robust flavor release." Wow, that sounds like a mouthfull! When you open up the can the aroma that comes through is slightly sweet, but smoky with a pure tobacco essence - reminds me much of Grov. The vanilla is present in hints in the smell. Speaking of the cans - these are really well done. They kinda remind me of those Special Blend cigarettes that were around years and years ago. When I was a smoker I remember trying them. The cans are simple, but elegant.

The portions are very full, and moist - with a great mouthfeel. When it comes to taste, these certainly aren't lacking! The tobacco taste is the front-runner here, with a hint of chocolate (like with Ettan Original Portion) - very slightly present, but not overbearing like you're eating a candy bar or anything. There is a slight sweetness, and a smoky flavor as well. Something else reminds me of cedar for some reason, there's a very wood-like presence in the background as well. No pepper to speak of, but a nice little salty taste to bring out and enhance everything this snus has going on for it. For some reason, I pick up an almost liquor-like quality in the flavor mix as well, maybe a bourbon or a scotch, but I'm not sure. It sure is good though! It packs a moderate nic hit, since Marlboro is a strong portion.

It sounds like they should burn the remaining inventory of US Marlboro and just sell that stuff here. WTF SM and PM get your Snus game together.

Where I'd you get this, through your Snus Ambassador contacts at the Snus Embassy? Or is there somewhere we can buy this?

Haha, no secret website supplying it, no. I just got a little bit for review purposes, but I don't have a steady supply or stream of it or anything.

With the EU snus mail ban it seems like Sweden and Norway are the only places you could get this.

Or any country other than the EU or US. I dunno how many snusers exist outside of the EU and America, but I imagine there's a few.

Damn, was not even thinking worldly. This product would probably do very well in many other countries with the brand recognition.

I have family in the eastern euro bloc and was using them as transports for rare snus items but with the EU ban it looks like that is all over with.
If you have friends in Sweden or Norway then you are very lucky!!

Smokeless tobacco in Canada is not cheap, I once paid $17.50 for a can of Skoal Mint in London Ontario.

it is a game of cat and mouse here in Canada between us and customs. Whenever I place an order I am in anticipation of its arrival, if it is caught well you can read what happens on other threads, it is a 50-50% chance, have not placed orders in a while but I do help others here with them knowing that if the package is caught it is between 7-10$ customs per can, we can not place large orders as they almost always caught best orders are 3-7 cans max no more, that said, I can help anyone willing to take the chance with that, I can give you my mailing address to ship to and can ship out from WA when I receive it, but please keep in mind customs, if caught then the charge will hurt, badly !!!

I just got my order of these through - apparently they're only SM by manufacturer, not sure about the sales to the EU rules now. But I have some to try.

                            And the review?

Well they seem to be flavoured in a similar fashion to the Swedish camel snus and on opening the can and sniffing I was reminded of opening a fresh packet of cigarettes an doing the same to the foil inside the carton. It doesn't smell exactly like fresh toasty Virginia tobacco, but I can tell that's what they were going for when they included the vanilla, smokey and fruity elements.

In the mouth they're different. It's definitely a Swedish Match stark original portion. It has the same kind of mouth feel as Claq Qui did (with the same fairly high level of drip). In fact it has similar taste to Claq Qui - not quite as sweet and fruity, almost as if it had been blended 50:50 with Grov Black as you get the vanilla and leathe flavours of that one too.

It's a quality snus. Maybe a bit highly flavoured for me to use every day, but very good indeed.

Sometimes wrong and sometimes right .... but ALWAYS certain!!!

It's not for me. It has a candy like taste to it. Similar to Jak's Classic Strong. Didn't get much of kick from it and found it hard to finish the can. Sorry Swedish Match! I love the majority of their other snus a lot, just not this.
