I am relatively new to snus, being rare and hard to find product in Toronto. A friend introduced me to snus as a means of quitting cigarettes and the transition was painless and relatively simple as well as financially pleasing, as a container of snus last me a weak and costs as much as a pack of cigarettes here, for a pack a day smoker thats a significant savings. I started snusing with General Mint which is sweet, slightly salty and toothpasty, and strangely burns the lips slightly. Although very enjoyable at first I got tired of the overly sweet character and therefore moved to General smooth taste.
Upon opening the can the aroma is clearly the same as, or very similar to Erinmore Flake pipe tobacco. As a 30+ year pipe, cigar and cigarette smoker, my first tobacco experience believe it or not, was smoking Erinmore flake in a home made corn cob pipe. I loved the stuff although the first few times I smoked it I got as sick as a dog. I know this aroma well and I love it, so it was a fantastic plus for me. Compared to the General mint this snus is not as sweet and is slightly saltier but still quite sweet just the same. The overall character is fruity and quite good, also the mint is juicier at the 20 min mark, smooth taste dries your mouth out like a son of a bitch. The nicotine hits harder and faster than the mint, probably a result as the increase in salt.
