    Snus, Dip, Chew

Hey, i figured i would introduce myself and ask a question, I'm somewhat new to chew, i found it a positive alternate to smoking and i'm a very light dipper, usually only when i'm out fishing or relaxing with some friends, a can lasts me at-least a week, sometimes even a month but i always have a few.

So here's my question, i've been researching alot and keep hearing about swedish snuss, people say it's playdough like in texture, how does it compare to american chew?
I've been debating on ordering some cans from here but i dont want what we call snuss (a fine wet powder) unless you guys know some good brands? i'm looking to see what's out there.
So what do you guys suggest? or whats your personal favorite?

I'm not a big fan of fruit / mint flavors

My favorite can is probably redman longcut
it would be copenhagen natural but it's just too salty, but i like how well it stays together!

Leaf chew is great, i have a bag of beechnut, morgans, and redman in my car at all times (probably my favorite kind of chew!)

    Welcome to SnusOn!

Dip and American chew are pretty different from snus. Copenhagen snuff is probably the closest, but not that close. Traditional snus is fairly salty, but you get used to it after awhile. Try a variety from a few different companies. They're all pretty good, and it comes down to personal taste. Every company has a house style, so it's good to try a few companies. You may like one, and not another.

and okay, cool. I almost bought come copenhagen snus but it came in pouches (i guess thats a normal thing in snus) my friends always called it wussie chew but im seeing why it's like that now, i think they are white portions, i'll probably grab a can this weekend.

Copenhagen has snus now? I forgot to add American snus-like product isn't like Swedish snus. For the real Swedish experience you have to order online, or luck into a shop close by. Some of the Swedish snus has been Americanized for this market, but it isn't as bad as the home made brands. American made snus-like product is uniformly sweet, and low salt. It also tends to be heavily flavored. I wouldn't base your opinion of Swedish snus on the brands you can typically find around here.

Okay, i always assumed the snuff/snuss in pouches around here was just finely ground chew in a tea-bag, and yes, i do believe it was snuss.
I always thought snuff was what you inhale, but i just noticed my redman can says moist snuff

There's some confusion of terms. Snuff was originally(and still is) a dry product meant for inhalation. Water was added it to it at some point, and used orally, but it retained the name snuff. Snus is Swedish for snuff, but they have a different term for nasal snuff if I'm not mistaken. Confusingly, American dry snuff was certainly meant for the nose originally, but almost everyone who uses it, uses it orally, and has for a long time. You can also stick moist snuff in your nose with some difficulty :^D NTSU is a South African snuff people over here put in their noses, but I think it's really meant to be used orally. You kind of have to look at the container, and make your best guess as to what you have, and how it should be used.

If you plan on getting your feet wet with loose snus, I might suggest ordering a mixed box. Not sure who else has them, so here's a link to one on Buysnus. It's got their top 10 selling loose brands all in one box, so you can get a good idea of the different flavors out there. Also, don't forget to order a prismaster or Icetool unless you really want to mess with this stuff with your fingers (some do, but it's kinda messy).

Woah, I gotta shoot them an email. Someone messed up their cost on that product. It is NOT the 300 some dollars it's showing on there, it's a typo. Someone must have misplaced a decimal point!

If you are going to order a box, I would suggest you get a "bag o' snus" roll from snuscentral.com. It is a bit of a gamble, but with loose, there isn't nearly as much of a variety, so you will get at least half of their selection. You might get a bad one here and there, but most loose snus is at least ok.
