Ok, I just got my 3rd order of snus. The second order didn't go very well for me. I opened like 4 or 5 cans right away because I wanted to snus with some variety. I'm not like 24/7 with this stuff so after 2 or so weeks all the cans went dry. I didn't bother with trying to get a spray can with distilled water to revive them so I just chucked them. A few days ago I got my 3rd order and decided to just go one can at a time. The expiration dates look good on these cans from buysnus (unlike my last order with Northener), but I'm afraid to take any risks. I've been snusing with the 02 brand for a few days and was wondering if I could just open one of the white varieties I ordered. My sense is that the whites don't need refrigeration like the wet ones, and may last longer opened without drying up. I've been snusing a bit more than I would usually snus because I'm afraid of the can drying out. I'm thinking I could maybe open one or two more cans....a white one and a wet one? What's my play?

I keep all my open cans in the fridge, if I open it and won't use it for a while, I put it back in the freezer in a sealed bag, keeps it fresh so no need to worry about having multiple cans open as you can just freeze them until you want the snus again.
I normally have an OP and a white portion going at any one time and a can of loose.

Cool, thanks for the reply. I just made some earl grey and popped open a can of "12." I've got one can of skruf loose, but I use los so infrequently I'm going to wait until I'm more than half finished with a can of OP before I open that one. If I find any cans I'm not crazy about I might even just vacuum seal em before freezing them.

I've had the Odens open for a week in the fridge and I've noticed the last few portions in there are kind of dry. I think I have to put the opened tins in a ziplock bag the way I keep the sealed ones before I open them. Maybe this is the cause of my problems.

Originally posted by JudasPriestYeah, I like the "12" quite a bit. The only other mint I've had is the Nordic Mint coffin can which I think is horrible. But this mint is quite pleasant. I kinda like the shape of these portions compared to the Odens OP I've been using, which are rather bulky in the lip. I got a can of each of the numbered tins to try. I liked the 06 so I went and got the rest of the line to try and the shape seems to work in my lip.

I mainly use los.........so the time it takes me to get through a tin of portions is longer than most
Right now I have two cans of portions opened ...............both are in Ziplocs and in the freezer............when I need a portion......I get it straight from the freezer.........moisture seems to be just fineWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... OP if you want you can just keep all your cans frozen, even the open ones. I regularly use portions just from the freezer, they defrost in your mouth in minutes. I think the flavor is a little better once they've defrosted in the fridge but it really isn't that big of a difference.
I completely understand starting out and wanting to try everything, we've all been there. Before I started freezing I lost quite a few cans due to this. So freezing what you know you won't use for a while is the key. Eventually you'll find your groove and snus won't go dry on you anymore.

I keep mine in the freezer until i use it then its straight in the pocket. I never keep mine in the fridge and i dont have any problems with it drying out but i only keep two cans open at a time

I have never split one doing this
However, I have bypassed two that were really stuck together until I was going out for a bit...... brought them with me........let them defrost and de-copulate....it's all goodWhen it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Man, How hard is it to spritz a little water on em, I use snus up to three years old all the time, i got eight or nine cans open. Just a small spritz and its all good, and the whites should be good for a long time. Dry snus just needs a little water after all. It is too expensive just to chuck out cans.wiki "Popcorn Sutton" a true COOT!
