General los has a great balance of flavor. It has the taste of quality tobacco with the perfect amount of bergamot and pepper. I also find it to have the perfect salt content for me.
While I enjoy the flavor, I do think the best part of this snus is the grind. I like how it is fine enough to be easy on the gums, it is also coarse enough to keep its shape in a pris for as long as I want to keep it in.
The can is paperboard, but I use an old General portion lid on top instead if the gold plastic one it comes with as it has a tighter fit.
Overall, there is nothing that "stands out" in this snus which may make some people think it boring and pedestrian, but it's balance and the fact that it does not have any overpowering flavors in it keeps me coming back for more.
Mike
Edit: I kinda don't like General los anymore. Now that I have been through a lot more snus I find the smoke flavor to be irritating.

This is my first review, so takefor it for what it's worth. I tried this first, having quite a bit of familiarity with American dip, even though I was a little trepedatious about the mysterious process of hand "baking" a pris and sliding it unbroken between your gum and upper lip.
It only took me two tries to get it right, the secret being to take one's time, and use body heat and light pressure to form it into a small cylinder like object. It has a great balance of traditional, though refined, straight tobacco taste, a hint of lemon for freshness, and a bit of salt and pepper to add an interesting tingle when the pris is inserted. It seem so give off a little less nicotine than the portions, which makes it good for me for late at night. Also, I do like the tingle and feel of something substantial between your cheek and gum. This is fantastic stuff, with just the right amount of moiture and a grind that is neither too fine nor too coarse. I would like to try more loose snus, but my current experimentation is with the portions.

General Los is my first experience with Swedish snus, and what an experience it has been! I ordered it from Northerner as a way to enjoy tobacco in the depths of the frigid Massachusetts winter, and it has quickly become a stalwart companion in the trenches of reading period and finals at my college.
Given that I've very little comparative experience, I'll just give my impressions of General. The flavor is excellent, earthy tobacco, a bit of citrus, and a refined salt base. I've had few problems hand-baking (though recently I've favored simply pinching-and-tossing; I don't really find any major difference... probably just bad at hand-baking), the pris seems to stay together well, and is comfortable in the mouth. I use pretty small pinches, as I wasn't a pack-a-day smoker or anything coming in (just a piper and a cigar smoker; I enjoy tobacco in all its varieties!) However, the nicotine kick is nice, and I'm sure I could set the room spinning with a larger pris.
Good stuff, and a great intro to genuine Swedish lossnus.

Definitely my favorite at-home snus. Usually when I'm out I'll use general white portions, which have a very similar flavor but without the messiness.
As some of the others stated, the grind of this snus is really nice; not too coarse to bake easily, but not too fine that it'll create a mudslide after 30 minutes. The pepperyness is not too overpowering compared to the portions, and the citrus flavors a little brighter and really come out nicely. I find the salt in the loose also seems to bring out more flavors, while it acts almost as an extra flavor component in the portions.
My prises of general loose are almost always handbaked, and I find it's incredibly easy to keep one in for up to 2 hours without much degradation. It's definitely a great loose for beginners, with an almost clay-like consistency out of the can. The paper bottom might dry it out a bit faster, but i've found tossing in a lemon rind or a few drops of distilled water will get it back to its original freshness with practically no loss of flavor. I've compared cans that are 6 months away from their best by date, and some that are up to 4 months past their best by date that i've remoistened, and there's very little / no noticeable flavor difference, imo. Definitely a great loose to try for those who are getting into it, or even for those who swear by general portions and have never thought of touching loose.

I had some experience with Ettan Los about a year ago and could not keep it together. Just turned to mush every time. Since PACT, I've been buying locally most of the time. My local tobacco shop has General Los so I decided to give it a shot since you get more snus for the money. This is now my favorite snus. I have even been using it out of the house and I never would have done that on my previous experiment.
2 thumbs up.

This is a wonderful snus, which often gets overlooked, since most people get distracted by the plethora of the portioned varieties of General. However, this was the version that started it all. Unlike the other varieties of General, this is extremely smooth and fuses the bergamot (citrus) flavor with the tobacco flawlessly. As well, the tobacco has a very "clean" flavor that will surely delight anyone who tries it. If you're tired of the same old los or want a change of pace, look no further than General Los.

I have to agree that this is good stuff. It is very easy to hand bake and the flavor is a step up from General OP. I am also able to find this stuff in the local tobacco shop if I am willing to pay their $8.00 a can price tag for it. The only thing I didn't like about this snus is it cut my gums up after trying to use it as an all day snus.

This is the first can of loose snus and I must say I'm not disappointed. It has a nice flavor with hits of citrus in it. I have only had one can of General portions in the past and they were nice and easy to use so I was a little apprehensive about putting loose tobacco in my upper lip. I expected it to not stay together and just get all over my mouth. I am not very good at handbaking as I have only used this about 10 times since I got it a couple days ago, but it seems to stay together well and I only ever get a few small pieces falling off the pris in my mouth. It seems to take about 15 minutes until the flavor actually starts coming out, but it's a very enjoyable. I'm not sure if I'm baking it wrong, but after 30-45 minutes it seems to get pretty wet and starts to slide down the top of my teeth a little bit. Overall I have been enjoying this and would recommend it.

Edit: I realize after reading another thread that the reason it gets so wet and starts going down my teeth is that I'm constantly messing with it with my tongue.
