Wow, no reviews for this one?? I like GR2. Not an all day snus, but a very nice treat. Kinda sweet, way better then GR1. A nice beginner's snus, but I could see getting burned out on it, if I used to much of it.

Way better than GR1, definately. Good as a couple-times-a-day snus, but like Vegan said, I can see this turn on you if overused. Slightly sweet, with fruity undertones. 4 stars.

Word. I really try not to use one too much because I like it so much. A treat is a perfect word to describe this one.

After getting a can of this for my friend I ordered another can for myself because I was sure I preferred the GR to this, but after spending the weekend with GR2 I have changed my mind. I love the flowery/fruityness in the background. I could easily make this my all day regular portion snus. Because you all know how much I love my Thunder Frosted ES!

I'd say that I use this about for about 90% of all of my snus usage. I do use some others like ettan or catch licorice, but for the most part, it's all about rape #2 for me!

I do realize that sounds bad lol!

I have to agree. This has become my goto right now (used to be General Wintergreen) but I find this is the one I keep going back to.

After going through my first can of this, I found this to be my favorite flavored snus. A mild fruit taste along with semi-salty tobacco flavor seems to be perfect fit for me. The nic kick doesn't seem as strong as the General portions but does satisfy.

It does take a couple of portions to get use to via first time using but comes out a winner. Flavor seems to last anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. I will order a roll of this ASAP.

I have yet to try Roda Lacket white portions. How does it compare to GR#2?

They are different flavors, but they could almost be cousins. RL has a bit of a fruitier taste with a more subdued herb flavor mixing in.

Both have identical mouth feels (both SM) and both are good. I by far prefer GR #2 but when I have run low I did enjoy RL too.

It is for sure worth a buy for you to give it a shot. I wouldn't go all out but a few cans will give you a good idea.

What I really enjoy about both of them is at about the 15-20 minute mark if I don't mess with it there is a really great taste that just explodes in my mouth. To me, it is quite the religious experience.

I was out for a few weeks a while back and when my order came in, of course I popped one in. About 10 minutes later the flavors mixed and hit me and I stood there and savored it for a good few minutes. My wife interrupted my special time with a slight cough and said, hrmm, so that's what a snusgasm is huh?

Oh she hit it right on!

I definitely prefer GR2 to GR1, and love to use it when it's a little warmer out or when I'm out and about in a peaceful setting. Something about the earthiness really reminds me of being in a nice green open meadow, as stupid as that sounds, and the subdued herb flavor balances the florally fruity notes very well. The flavors are definitely pretty subtle compared to my typical general loose or portions, but the slight sweetness balances every note perfectly and puts me in sheer ecstasy. I like RL, too, but find GR2's earthy herb notes really bring everything together and makes it much more favorable. I would never be able to make this my regular snus, but always have a can in the freezer for special occasions when the mood strikes.

I suppose I'm going to have to be the dissenter on this one. GR #2 is good, but I prefer the original GR by far. The lingonberry mutes the juniper/citrus notes, and IMO, throws the flavor off balance.

I have only tried GR #2 back in late 2008. It tasted a bit flowery, a subtle flavor. About 30 minutes in my head started buzzing before entering a six hour migraine. I think I might be allergic to the lingonberries in the mix, couldn't muster up the strength to try again.

So, be warned that some people could be allergic/sickened by its contents.

Review from my blog of Göteborgs Rapé and Göteborgs Rapé No2
Any references to "the other" or "both of these snuses" is in reference to GR1

In the process of catching up reviews, I was very surprised that I've never reviewed either of the Göteborgs Rapé varieties. Göteborgs Rapé, or Goteborg's Rape, or sometimes GoteRape as they're often called, are produced by Swedish Match. Göteborgs Rapé is the 2nd most popular brand on the Swedish market, last time I checked. There are two varieties, Göteborgs Rapé, and Göteborgs Rapé No2 Lingon. The main reason I wanted to write about these is because they're both great alternatives if you need something to throw in the mix to break the monotony of your snus rotation. Most people tire of mint quickly and want something unique to use on top of their regulars. I use Jakobsson's Flader (formerly Gotland's Green) as my alternative flavor, but have been known to occasionally use either one of these. Personally, I prefer the No2, but both are good and very unique in their own right. I usually try to keep my reviews simple, but as these are both flavored with Lingonberry or Juniper - and most people don't sit around eating either of these varieties of berry, I feel I should explain a little about what each one tastes like. Juniper is best known for flavoring gin. If you've ever had gin, you'll know what I'm talking about. If not, juniper berries have a slightly bitter fruit taste, an almost bittersweet flavor profile. Lingonberry are very popular in Scandinavia, I've heard it said that lingonberry is to Scandinavia as blackberries are to America. I've had it in crepes & syrup at IHOP - so if you're curious that's the easiest way to get it, it's also very common in jams here in America. Lingonberry is rather tart, and at times reminds me of a cranberry but a little sweeter. One thing I want to note about both these snuses is that they can seem to turn on you if you use them too much. They're great to keep around as an occasional, or something to mix it up a bit, but I always suggest not to overuse them.

GR No2 is my favorite of the two. I find the taste to be more pleasant out of the two Göteborgs Rapés. Göteborgs Rapé No2 Lingon is a Swedish Match white portion - which means it comes in the star formation common to all SM white portions. The portions are in a wedge shape, so after taking it out of the can a little fluffing is needed to get it ready to put into your lip. The aroma is more fruity than standard GR, with a little hint of lemon coming through and a slight floral scent. This stuff smells so good, it's hard to take your nose away from it. The taste is, like GR1, very unique. The lingonberry is very present, slightly tart and mildly fruity with an earthy/herbal quality to it. There is a slight floral taste in the background and little hints of lemon all brought together with a nice salt balance. I pick up hints of juniper, as well however it is in the background. This snus is sweeter than GR1. There is a little peppery taste in the background, but it's not strong at all and it pairs quite well with the other flavors in this snus. GR No2 is, like GR1, a very complex snus, but a great one to throw into the mix if you want to have an alternative to your regular rotation.

Both of these snuses are very unique, and a great way to mix up your rotation. As I said in the beginning, I've found that when overused you can tire of them quickly - so keep them around as a little diversion to your regular snus usage, or something to end the day with. Each is very unique, both under the Göteborgs Rapé name, but each having their own unique flavor.

                              True True True...

I really stocked up on GR2 early on and let it take up prominent freezer space... was up to about 6 a day and then ................. it turned on me.

The occasional use eventually got me to truly appreciate GR2 as a special treat.

                              Uumm uumm good!!

Never tried GR1 'cause I'm more than satisfied with the occasional GR2.
