I purchased a whole roll of this sight unseen, and have no regrets. Grovsnus Black has a wholly unique flavor that is almost like unsweetened dark chocolate, not sugary or candy-like at all. The advertised 12mg nicotine hit is robust and efficient, and begins to work quickly.
Plus, the black portion paper is very soft and smooth. After a minute or two, one can hardly tell that the paper is even there.
I know Grovsnus Black has gotten a mixed reception here, but for me it's a keeper. I will definitely be ordering more. Great stuff!
If you like regular Grov then this is one you should certainly try. I find it to be rather close in taste to Grov reg yet as dripless as the white portions. The flavor keeps coming strong for up to two hours for me.
The portions feel real good in my lip, and perhaps better than the white portions but the portion material tends to get slimy fast if you play with it.
I get smokey and leathery notes with this one. Makes me thing of sitting in my winged-back leather chair that's as old as the hills reading a good book. I use this as a morning (with coffee) or a chill-out snus. It's not good for me as an all day snus as it just has too much flavor.
It's also a nice complimentary snus to Onyx. They're very different in flavor but the body, portion material, and duration are comparable.
It was not like regular Grov at all to me. I hated it. It had like a vanilla leather something taste. I could not get past 2-3 portions.
That's how I felt about it at first too, but it's currently my favorite snus. Grov White portions are a regular purchase for me, but this really tastes nothing at all like that. From this, I get a rich vanilla taste along with tobacco.
This one was a disappointment to me. It had some funky vanilla and leather things workin' that I couldn't learn to appreciate.
I didn't like the portion material either. It was soft feeling but tended to get kinda slimy like Onyx does.
I much prefer Grov OP.
Old worn leather (leatherette?) cushion in an econoclass bordello. How'd you ever get that thing stuffed in your face? I know, it seemed like a great idea at the time. You'll probably ask her to do it again. But not soon, O Lord.
Alternately: Did you ever eat Pla-Doh, when you were a kid? Did you like it?
I like this alot. Reminds of regular grov, but with a more prounounced flavor. I'd second the sentiment that if you like regular grov, you might enjoy this as well. If this came in los, I'd order it.
Now I love regular Grov portions (I love the los too). In fact they are my go to portion for everyday use. With this in mind I thought it would be fun to try this "stronger version". But really it feels like it tastes nothing like Grov. The vanilla gets sickly fast and seeing as the reason I like Grov is it's strong plain tobacco taste I was upset to find this had so much other flavours to it.
I have used nearly half a can now over a few days and pretty much hate it now. I guess I'm going to put it back in the freezer and stick to the Nick and Johnny strong for my extra kick portions.
I just ordered 3 rolls. I tried this, but never actually trying regular Grov. Original portion Grov was too sickening for me. Grov Black is perfect. I LOVE the vanilla. Its very pronounced in my taste. I actually just threw the rest of my OP Grov, cause it would make me gag. But the Original Los is quite good. Something about those portions are gross.
Grov Black has a very nice sweetness to it, not a fruity sweetness. Just, idk. Its hard to explain. People who like the OP Grov, I dont think are too fond of the black portions. But I think they are incredible.
WickedKitchen said it best, "It's also a nice complimentary snus to Onyx." I mostly use Onyx on a day to day basis. I have started to become very fond of Grov Snus Black. The flavor is very interesting as its a vanilla, with a touch of liquorice. The portion is black and fits very comfortable in the upper lip, wedged or fluffed. The portions also come in the Swedish Match star formation so the portions are wedged. The nicotine hit is a good one, comes on quick and effectively.
I wasn't too keen with this snus when I first started using them. I am about halfway through a can now and it has grown on me as a very suitable option when I don't want to use Onyx. I strongly recommend those who use sterk or strong snus to try it if you haven't, yet
Over the next few days, I'm going to be catching up on reviews of older snus products that I've tried, but never got around to reviewing. I get requests all the time to review certain snuses, and I've just received an order of all the snuses you guys have asked for! The first one will be Grov Black. In the past I reviewed Grov White Portion, and I occasionally use Grov Original Portion, I also did a video review of Grov Kardus a few days ago. So, I'm no stranger to Grov. But Grov Black is totally different, in many aspects. Grov Black, much like General Onyx, is a black portion counterpart produced by Swedish Match. A black portion is simply a white portion that comes in a different color pouch. Grov Black has a nic content of 12mg, so it's a little stronger than General Onyx - which weighs in at 11mg. The word "Svart" is Swedish for "Black".
Grov Black is a very interesting snus. The aroma is sweet - a slight leather aroma with undertones of vanilla. The portion is very comfortable, however being a star formation, the wedge shape does require a little fluffing before putting in the lip. The vanilla aroma comes through quite clearly, with slight licorice hints and a little leather undertone going on as well. There is also a very slight leathery taste. The "Grov" flavor profile is present, but mixed with these other elements providing a very complex taste profile - and a very interesting one at that. Grov Black is pretty interesting. It's not something I could use every day, but I could see it as an occasional use. It's sweet, but not too sweet - I think the added elements compliment the Grov flavor very well. If you're a fan of Grov, I'd urge you to pick it up and give it a try.
