    Chess Snus Review

Got my can of Chess snus to try out the other day.

The packaging suggests it's being made by V2.

The portions were all well filled, none were split, they were moist and felt comfortable under the lip.

Nic hit came on quite quick and I would say was moderate.

Taste wise I would say it was a pure tobacco tasting snus with a bitter twang to it (assume that's the 50% cigar snus)

Taste wise personally not for me but would be interested to see what any previous or still occasional cigar smokers think.

So i got a roll of this recently, been waiting till i got through at least one can before posting my thoughts. Now halfway through second can.

As Pris said - portions are well filled, no splitting happening. As for moisture personally I found mine to be a tad on the dry side (not quite as moist as Gen op) but i like my portions to be a little drippy so take that for what it's worth

First impression was, hmmm it's like an Ettan White, then the flavor comes on as a mixture of sweet, a little bitter with a hint of sweet licorice (not anis).

Maybe it was because i haven't had anything but General OP or los for months but the nic hit was good, Northerner list these as being 10mg nic.

The flavor will keep going for a good hour and more and develops a richness which may or not be cigar like. I like a cigar occasionally but still haven't decided if it is a cigar flavor or not. It is definitely a uniquely flavored snus unlike anything else i have had yet.

It is not an all day snus on it's own but i have been alternating between this and Gen Op. The switch up between the sweet/richness of the Chess compared to the more traditional flavor of General works good.

Would i buy a roll, i doubt it. If i saw some in a store i might buy a can for a change of pace.

I have a review somewhere, lemme find it.

        -----

Now that I have some in my hands, I can actually share a little more about this new snus. One of the first things that had me curious was the 50/50 mix between cigar tobacco and snus tobacco. Would this affect the moisture of the snus? Much to my surprise, this snus is much more moist than most - it seems to be higher than 50% moisture content. The portions are very juicy. The aroma of this snus is very interesting. It reminds me of one of the V2 Original Test snuses - OT-2, in that it has this kinda musty smell to it. No citrus hints or notes present - it's just a simple dark tobacco smell with this musty presence to it. However, it's no lightweight in the taste department. It's got a hell of a salt flavor going on, a rich tobacco taste, and a little bitterness mixed in too. I don't know if that's the licorice that the product description has, but it's a possibility. If you like a lot of salt in your snus, a simple tobacco flavor, and aren't a big fan of citrus - you'll probably like this. I can tell it isn't flavored to match the traditional snus flavor profile. In the end it's pretty interesting stuff. It has a unique flavor so if you're looking for something different to try - you'd probably enjoy it.

I can order it here: http://www.sigar.com/contents/no/d88.html (Norwegian site)

It is pretty good, perfect after a red meat dinner with a cup of coffee. Not an everyday type of snus though, I keep it in the fridge

Is yours lössnus or portions? Being in Norway I assume you can get either.

Well I'm a lössnus fan and being here in the US, hell will probably freeze over before it becomes available here.

Just got a roll of this with free shipping from northerners. I have to say it is really quite delicious. It could easily become one of my regulars.

I got some too because of the deal. Never heard of it before. Finished one can...pretty damn good. I smoke cigars and I totally can taste the cigar flavor. I don't know if it's daily rotation kinda stuff but I definitely dig it.

hi all I got some chess snuss last week (from northerner cause of the great deal) I like this snus though I seem to be getting a leathery kinda taste coming through (I kinda like it in a perverse way lol) has anyone else come across this or is it just my tastebuds playing tricks on me?
