First impressions.
(I have only minimal experience with dip)
Cut looks like you would expect, like dip. It feels a little different to the touch. Almost spongey compared to a wet dip feel. Although the moisture is there.
It smells awful. Like fish mixed with fresh plastic or rubber or something. Does not smell like thunder original los.
With that said, it does not taste how it smells at all. It has a nice clean taste to it. Citrus i would guess. Almost like dried and fine cut orange peel but not bitter. I do not taste tobacco. It tastes completely different than thunder los original. I only taste the orange peel type flavor. I don't even taste salt. It's a very smooth clean citrus taste. Feels fine in the lip (bottom lipped with pinch and tuck). NO MUDSLIDE!!! As long cuts do not mudslide at all. You just pinch and tuck and it stays perfectly. Play with it with your tongue to place it percisely where you want it and "pack" it together and it stays in one spot all together. Removing it was so quick and easy and not messy at all. This stuff is good quality......BUT,
I do not like it. I was hoping for a tobacco flavor. I would buy this cut in Ettan, Grov, wintergreen, frosted, Probe Whiskey, etc. etc. as long as it kept the flavor of them the same. I DO like thunder original los but I do not like the FLAVOR of Thunder Long Cut Original.

Out of all the longcuts V2 has created I really do like this one. It is in my opinion very similar to the los with the citrus and natural tobacco flavor and nothing else. I think though that it does have the super fresh deal going that might throw the flavor off a bit. I think the can should be left open to breathe a little. The nic hit is very good also and advise to be careful.Comment

Maybe I will try the "breathing the can" method. Mine tasted nothing like the regular los. Also I didnt find the nic hit that strong either but that could vary depending on the ph balance in your mouth at that particular time I think. I think a similar scenario is with the Phantom BLue. It really does smell like a cleaning product but once it is in your mouth it is something completely different. Not sure exactly what they use for freshness but I noticed it also in the Offroad WG Longcut (longtime user). Kinda a ammonia something, but it does fade a good bit if you stretch the length of the can.Originally posted by NewYork
Really about the nic hit? I felt the tap right away, pretty strong compared to the Offroad 8mg and the recent Timberwolf WG I was using over the weekend.
My nic tolerance has also dwindled quite a bit so I am quite happy in the 8mg-11mg range.Comment

Man o man, I just opened the can (75% of it is in the freezer and the rest in the fridge) from the fridge to air it out and it just smells REALLY BAD to me. I smelled the thunder los and it smells nothing like the long cut. The los smells great, the long cut smells wayyyy different but now it smells more like it tastes. I'm affraid this flavor did not transition well into long cut for some odd reason. I wish more people would post reviews maybe i got a bad can or something. It makes me sick just smelling that flavor though. But not because it's rotten or anything more like I just don't like that flavor at all.Originally posted by truthwolf1

First post fellas. I too am not liking it. At all. And I'm a Thunder whore, it's pretty much all I do. I especially LOVE Frosted Los and Original Los along with most of their flavored portions (when I'm out and about). Unfortunately, I ordered a full roll of it also. Like an idiot I just assumed since it was Thunder that it would be great and decided I didn't need to just buy a few cans to try out, and I'm really, really regretting it. Plus, I really do enjoy some US dips, and find long cut to just be easier to throw in when I'm feeling lazy. I just would prefer to avoid the crap in most US dips.
Like you said, the smell is awful and it carries over to the taste. It's just one of those things that maybe once you get it into your head, you just can't get past. But maybe more than that, the flavor also for me just doesn't do it once I try to battle past the stench. I have a can on my desk as I type and I just opened it to take a whiff and want to vomit. It smells like rotten fish and plastic just like you have mentioned. And now finding it has a really "plasticy" taste to it. I have no clue as to when they "package" snus, but it's almost as if they put the snus in there when it was too warm or something and it just absorbed the plastic of the container. Maybe it is a bad batch? I cannot imagine this is the taste they wanted. Or rather, I hope.
I guess I'll try to give it a go, but the 7 cans in my freezer may be staying there for awhile. I'm hoping it's an acquired taste thing, but I think I just tossed away $20 (plus whatever shipping). I equate the stench to "nostril rape". Unless something is wrong with it snd they fix it, I can't imagine this will be a big seller. Expiration on my can is: 05.04.2012 with a code of B290815.
For what its worth, I spoke to my buddy in Texas today, I got him off Copenhagen and onto snus, he loves snus know. I knew he was looking for something a bit easier to "dip" (we both bottom lip Los) so I suggested this. He said the same exact thing. And as revenge he's sending me 3 unopened cans of it. That's some cruel payback. Can't believe I'm saying this about a Thunder product.Comment

I decided to give it another go to see if I was just crazy. Not only does it taste NOTHING like what is described in the review (to me at least), but I actually just vomited violently. I do not taste any salt or any of the Original Thunder taste- just plastic weirdness. Obviously I'm not blaming the reviewer and I've been snusing for quite some time and I pretty much do nothing but Thunder products. I'm also an ex-smoker so it's not an issue of being a wuss or nic overdose. I have to wonder if there's just something WRONG with it. I have contacted V2 and SnusCentral. Not that SnusCentral will do anything about it, and my money is probably lost, but more to see if there have been any other issues. I wish I had just ordered another roll of Frosted or Thunder Los now. I just like to keep a mixture on hand to keep it fresh.
And no I'm not trolling, I've been a lurker here for a long time but had to post when I read this and finally got my order of LC in. You can see if you go to V2's Facebook page that I commented on the LC post they made fairly recently.Comment

It sounds like some bad batches to me as my experience is completely different. I just got a can out of a box pass and I love it. Clean, citrus flavor is what I get from it and smells the same.Comment

Maybe you got a bad batch but maybe you've got a slight bug that doesn't agree with something in this snus. I'd put it in the freezer for a month or two and revisit then. It may not be the snus for you after all but I really enjoy it.Comment

So then I did a smell test (as best I could before I blew chunks again) and the LC is WAAAAY overboard. I mean, the thing I noticed is that the Original Los has a nice odor, but, it smells very, very faintly like the LC. In other words the smell and taste of the LC is like 100 times more intense, like maybe they just overdosed the stuff on accident. I can't imagine they intended it to be this way. But who am I? I'm no scientist, I'm just a dude who digs a little tobacco. Maybe the cut of the tobacco just intensifies it. But I wish I could post the stench of it online for you guys. And the taste is just like the stench. I don't think there is any way that the cut of the tobacco would do this much damage.
Unfortunately after last night, I just can't ever bring myself to try it again. Maybe I'll try to trade it or something? Dunno. I mean I ended up tossing the can I had open in the indoors trash can. I couldn't live with it in there, so I had to take it out and throw it in the outside bin. So yeah, the smell and taste was SO over the top, that I had to phsycially remove a closed can from a trash can and take it outdoors.
I'm really kind of bummed by the whole ordeal. I really, really was excited to get it. I'm just glad I found out about the free shipping deal at Buysnus and had ordered a roll of Frosted Los before the LC had even arrived. Couldn't pass up free shipping so I put in a "small" order. You guys probably have me way beat but I have around 50 cans in my freezer and fridge. But I have to have Los on hand so when I run low I panic.

I've heard this from different people. Some have said, like Stu said. Some have said, like you said. I know Nash said it has a weird taste that seems to be typical of all long cut V2 products. I found it to taste much like the Thunder Classic with the clean citrus taste. I guess some got different batches than others, I dunno. Wherever you bought it from or V2 will fix it though, I've never heard of a problem with a V2 product that wasn't taken care of.Originally posted by whiteyandersonComment

I just can't imagine it would be though.
So to summarize: I love pretty much all V2 Thunder products, and will always buy them, pretty much exclusively. However, the LC isn't one of them.Comment
