This year's Julesnus is a 100% improvement from last year's recipe. I couldn't stand last years, it tasted of dirty, sweaty gym socks dipped in 'christmas' spices! This years tastes like hard cinnamon candy. It is an artificial hot cinnamon flavor and a tad on the sweet side and I like it! The can that the snus came in is even an improvement from last years crappy cheap paper labeling. This year's label is glossy plastic, makes the snus not look cheap! The portions are soft and comfortable. While I don't LOVE this snus, I would not be disappointed this year had I gone off the deep end and had ordered a roll. As there is still time left, I may just do that.

I bought a roll of this shit sight unseen, having never tasted it and I AM SO GLAD I DID! My first portion of it has been in for about 20 minutes. Is it just me, or am I really tasting fruitcake? I LOVE THIS SHIT! I am thinking I will save the tins, hook 'em and hang 'em on the Xmas tree this year.

I bought one can first, tried it, and then when I saw it on sale for around $1.20 a can, I immediately ordered a roll...it's goooooood. Has a nice flavor of christmas-y type spices and just a touch of wine in the background. Kinda like a mix of cinnamon/cloves/nutmeg/ginger/wine to me. A very good combo and I hope they bring it back next year. I liked it better than the Gotland's Julesnus.

It's that time of year again, and V2 has released their Nordströmmen Julesnus to the snus-world! As I've mentioned before, I'm partial to the V2 version of Christmas Snus each year. Not to say the Gotland's version isn't good - because it is really good. But for some reason, the V2 flavor profile is a little more "Christmas-y" in my humble opinion. But what is it that makes this taste a little better than the others? I'm going to quote from last year's review to summarize what goes into making V2's Julesnus.
"The listed flavor profile for Julesnus is Glögg, Cinnamon, and Clove. For those who don't know, Glögg is basically mulled wine, most often found in the red variety, and seasoned with various spices and served warm around the holiday season. It is sometimes flavored with cinnamon, clove, vanilla, sugar, and various other flavors. After trying this portion, I found myself wanting to try Glögg, so I called in a favor from a friend down the street who is into all kinds of interest varieties of wine and warm beverages, my "art buddy", who whipped some up and brought it over, and I found the characteristics of Julesnus strikingly similar to those of Glögg."
As always, this year's release comes in portions and in los. One difference is that over the past year, V2 has improved their portion quality and you can tell the difference in this year's release - in that the flavor lasts longer and the portion is much more comfortable. When you open a can of Julesnus the aroma is simply divine. A mellow mixture of cinnamon and clove, which carries through once the portion is in your mouth. The flavor is just wonderful. Cinnamon, clove, hints of vanilla - and it all mixes in such a way that it isn't too sweet - but provides just the right flavorful balance that, in my opinion, a Christmas snus should provide! V2's Nordströmmen Julesnus is released in a very limited edition and only available around Christmastime every year - so check it out, pick some up - and even grab a few extra cans, because once it's gone it's gone. I actually enjoy it from time to time throughout the year - so it's a great snus to put back in your bonus stash that you visit from time to time. Happy Holidays!

I ordered a tin of both V2 and Gotlandssnus like most people, and I expected I'd hate the V2 because it was about half the price. Big surprise for me! I found the Nordstrommen to be the better snus, with a very unexplainable and slightly sweet flavor that reminded me more of Christmas than Gotlandssnus' offering. The portion material was very comfortable and I found myself polishing the can before I was even halfway through with Gotlands. I thought it was so good that I ordered an entire roll this time, something that I never do! Highly recommended, and at around $2.50-$3.00 a tin, you can't go wrong trying it. Also I've seen some special deals lately as low as $0.89 a tin as they try to get rid of their stock at Northerner -- although I can't order thereImpatiently awaiting my roll of los!
Edit: I just noticed the last post was over 2 years ago, sorry if I shouldn't have dug this thread up.

I, for one, am glad you did Sato. :-)
Nordstrommen Julesnus portion is actually the younger of the two holiday snus brands and has seemed to have gone thru a change over the past few years. Let's start with the portions themselves. When V2 first introduced Nordstrommen Julesnus, the portions were really wet and tended to drip like mad. With this last release, it seems that they have reduced the amount of water that's added to the portions during the final phase of manufacture. In doing this, the portion has a much milder flavor and drips nowhere near what past versions do. Even though the portions are a bit dryer than previous releases, the material is still pretty comfortable in the lip for as long as the flavor lasts which is about an hour and a half. Each portion is just under 1 gram with a Nicotine content of about 8 mg per gram. While the Nicotine is on the medium side, new snus users will find it to be quite manageable. Now, let's take a look at the flavor!
When you open the can, the scent really doesn't match the flavor in my opinion but, in a good way. Let me explain; The scents that greet you from the can are a mix of Glogg (a type of mulled wine found in Scandinavia) with hints of dark chocolate, black cherry and peat. The actual flavor is a combination of lightly sweet wine, fruits, a touch of ginger and cinnamon and a hint of black pepper. In my opinion, the scent of Nordstrommen Julesnus is just as complex as the flavor and something I quite enjoy. Something that's different in the current release is that the flavor is not as immediate as the past versions. I think that this is a good thing and attribute it to the portions not being as wet. It'll take a few minutes for the flavor to come thru but when it does, it will last for about an hour and a half before the flavor just goes a bit bitter but, for a snus that's designed to last only 45 minutes, an hour and a half is pretty good!
I really recommend that you give Nordstrommen Julesnus a try, especially if it's been a while since you have last given it a shot. I'm pretty sure you'll be pleasantly suprised! ;-)
Hope this review helps!
The Stig
