Offroad Longcut - Red Blend DISCONTINUED

I opened my mail today and found a little care package from my friends over at V2 Tobacco. I figured that Patrick was sending me the Thunder testers (which is awesome, because my order from Buysnus has not arrived yet).

Anyways, As soon as I opened my mailbox, I noticed a scent near and dear to my heart... BERRIES! Amongst the Thunder cans was one I had not seen before, and Patrick, I am sorry if this was meant to be a secret, but damn this stuff is GOOD!...

    Offroad Long-Cut Red Blend

Here is a snus that is EVERYTHING that I had hoped for when I first tried Skoal Berry Blend. Upon opening the can, the berry smell makes my mouth water, but it is not without a dual scent of rich, dark tobacco.

Upon grabbing my first pinch (I lower-lip the long-cut), I noted a nice cooling sensation as I placed it under my lip (maybe a tiny hint of mint that is virtually undetectable sans the slight minty tingle?). The berry flavor is similar to that of Thunder Berry, but in my opinion, is a bit more subdued as it makes way for the long-cut tobacco juice to flow. The juice got nice and dark in fairly quick succession making way for a couple nice spits before it mellowed into a nice steady flow.

I can not vouch for the length of time the flavor lasts, as I spit it out to have dinner, but I can say that if something like this were available to unknowing American dippers, V2 would have one hell of a winner on their hands!

That being said, Thanks again for the treat. Will post up reviews of the Thunder test series as soon as I can break away from this can of Red Blend.

    Offroad Longcut: Red Blend

    From my recent review:

One thing the snus market has been missing is longcut snus. For a while, Offroad Wintergreen and Kardus Limited from Swedish Match have been the only longcut snuses available to us. V2, in their traditional innovative fashion, are hoping to change that by offering 3 new longcut snus products, the first of which being Offroad Longcut: Red Blend. Orange and Apple are soon to follow. I recently had some show up and was quite excited to try this stuff out and see if it was going to be any good and what this new offering from V2 and the Offroad line would bring to the table. That being said, most of the time I'm a portions guy. I use los snus when I'm at home, but that's usually about the extent of it. When it comes to longcut, I enjoy Kardus from time to time - but that's my experience with longcut. I know a lot of snusers have been asking for more longcut snus options, so I'm excited to see more coming.

When V2 announced this new Offroad snus, they told us that it was going to be a slightly different flavor from Thunder Berry Blend. I do find similarities, but I can tell that there are differences between this and Berry Blend. As mentioned above, this is a longcut snus. I was able to make a pris with both an Icetool and by handbaking, although handbaking required a bit more love than the Icetool. I would go as far as to say the aroma of this new snus is intoxicating. When I opened the can for the first time I found it hard to take my nose away from it long enough to put some in my lip! It just smells amazing, a very deep, rich berry aroma. The taste is similar to Thunder Berry Blend, but, as most los snus does, it provides a more rich flavor. If you're looking for "tobacco with hints of berry" this isn't for you, if I had to write a product description for it I'd say "straight up berry", the only other traces of flavor are little hints of salt here and there but they are in the background to the very rich berry flavor that this snus presents. It provides a good nicotine hit, as well. The texture is soft, and very comfortable in the lip. The snus itself is quite moist, and does drip. Very little sliding around on this one, I found the tightly packed pris I made stayed together very well. So that's Offroad Longcut: Red Blend. A great flavored snus that is bringing longcut to those who have been asking for it. I look forward to the next two longcut snuses from V2's Offroad Longcut label - Orange especially. I wasn't a fan of Offroad Apple (for those who didn't try it - you didn't miss much), but I'm hoping that the longcut variety is going to be much better. Look for it for sale on webstores soon!

        PATIENTLY WAITING ON THIS ONE.

I am really hoping it does not have any flavor relation to robitussin cherry cough syrup or jagermeister.

I have to disagree with these reviews, I so far don't like it. I tried it as a dip, and it's a mid cut for dip. Smells good, but it tastes like... nothing, then becomes a synthetic taste that doesn't exist in normal food or beverages. It's not bad overall, I only kept it in for 15 minutes during which it was getting better the stuff also felt weird, there was no real juice in it. So 6 out of 10, won't buy again but ok.

I had high hopes for this but was overall a bit disappointed.

After opening it, it felt as though someone had put a bottle of Robitussin right under my nose. Since it was long cut I decided to try and lower lip it first. Spit it out about 2 minutes later. The few juices it produced were bitter and had a strong resemblance to cough syrup. I don't know, maybe I'm just too used to the taste and feel of dip.
So knowing I couldn't lower lip it I decided to pull out the icetool and put it upstairs instead. A little more forgiving, since you aren't overpowered by cough syrup juices, and after a short while the resemblance wore off to a normal berry/menthol taste. Like Chad wrote, it stays together pretty well. This is probably something I won't buy again, as the robitussin taste and smell is a big turnoff.

What the... Ugh. I got a can of this out of the recent box pass. I figured it might be a good way to start my day... Wrong. I'm not sure if it's supposed to taste like that or if someone tried to poison me. :-P

Let's just say it's bad... Real bad. If anybody wants it PM me.

I agree, it is pretty bad. I have a few cans in my freezer.
Because that and Wintergreen are pretty much the only long cut snus I can get.

I'm glad someone agrees. Picture the cheapest, worst tasting cough syrup ever. Now picture that taste wrapped in a dry, horrible quality snus with a bad cut.... Would you put that under your lip?

                    ^This !
Wish V2 could make a dip/long cut close to the real deal. There are too much artifical flavors and too much salt.

I had a can of this spill open in a jacket without knowing it. After awhile I finally noticed because of the vomit smell coming from this stuff.

FRESH it was not that bad if you can put cough syrup out of your mind but I am not that into flavors with tobacco other then mint mostly.

You would think they would get the hint from years of requests by many to create something with a more traditional straight tobacco flavor.

despite bad reviews, I ordered and received two cans of the Apple over christmas.......I 'll heed the reviews next time. Nasty stuff. bitter and bland all at once.
the Orange is do-able and I've found it to be a decent product to have in the 'ol yap while fishing on the river. Lotsa drip so outdoor use was a must for me. I found no need to pre-form any type of shape...just pinch a bit out and jam it in. Regarding texture, this stuff has the closest resemblance to N. American dip that I've been able to find....taste, not-so-much.

Wow, can't believe all the bad reviews on this. I'm with X and Chad. This stuff is pretty good! It's like Thunder Berry, but not. I think it tastes better than Thunder Berry. V2 rocks!

haven't had this one but emptied two cans of Offroad Apple Long cut........

I like the cut.... but not the bitter taste ....... and hell it taste a bit chemic ..................... Not that bad.... but it's not my thing.....

Also, has anyone noticed the oily texture of tobacco, there's a ton of oil in that tobacco and for that reason is doesn't stay packed in the lip..... (actually this is dip, long cut) I wouldn't say it's snus lol .......... and I take it the lower lip.
