    Portion vs. Los

So far I have only tried General's pouched variety and have been rather satisfied with it, however how well does the los kind compare in terms of snus? The only unpouched smokeless I have ever tried was Grizzly's regular tobacco chew and I remember that being pretty easy to handle in the mouth without any problem. But seeing these icetools and packing instructions, does los really require that much care? The thing is I usually like to stick a pouch in between classes and labs at the university, where I find that calming and focus strengthening effect to be really pleasing and useful. So would los be really a problem, especially a messy one?

Also, am I wrong to thinking that the los will last me longer than the pouched variety? That's one of the factors that is weighing into trying the los.

To clarify, by pouched I meant the portion kind.

    Thanks.

I like lös better. It isn't as complicated as you might think reading the posts here. It's more difficult than dip, primarily because you're putting it in your upper lip, and don't have gravity to help, but it's no big deal once you're used to it. The IceTool isn't necessary. It's just a nifty gadget that makes portioning more regular, and a bit easier, but snus is easy enough to use by hand. You might want to get used to lös out of the public eye until you're practiced, but I use it out and about all the time without issue.

Lös is much more economical than portions, and the flavor last longer, but it takes a bit longer to start, and isn't as strong as a portion when you first put it in.

The flavor is different between lös and portions. Sometimes the difference is subtle, other times drastic. I prefer the lös flavor in almost every case. With Gotland snus, I'd say they're equal, but quite different. Gotland is a snus I want to have both forms for.

Pick up a tin or 2, and see what you think. You can make a ghetto IceTool from a 3ml syringe to see how that works for you, or just handbake it. General and Grov or Ettan would be good choices for first lös. If like those, try everything else. Gotland snus, and Gellivare/Landströms are big favorites of mine, and the Gellivare products are only available in lös form, but a portion tool of some kind is recommended with them.

Nice recommendations there lxskllr. I also agree with using some type of tool with Gellivare. I tried to hand bake some Gellivare and it was very messy and didn't work well. You can also buy a tool called a prismaster for about $2.00 which IMO works well but makes an uncomfortable a very large pris. Ice used to put some Ice Tools on auction here but I haven't seen any in a while.

        I like both ...

Depends on my mood and what I feel like taking...

Usually I use los when I'm at home ..

Lös is the best, it really is delicious and makes the flavor and experience that much better.

I have a video on how to handbake I will include a link here, check it out to learn. :P

I like portions for convenience but for flavor and pure enjoyment Los can't be beat. That is with a little experience anyways. The flavor profile of los seems to take a little time to make itself apparent to new users. Get a few cans, try them and you will end up enjoying them.

I love both.. I tend to gravitate towards portions for work and home even because I'm lazy lol.. I do Los once a day to every other day. Definetely add a can of Ettan los.. Like lxskllr said te taste between portions are different. With Ettan the Los is alot better.
