Yeah, the cola was pretty weak. It smells great though, but the tobacco runs nearly immediately and its pure bitterness overpowers everything else. The Coffee Vanilla is very slightly better. Very slightly. I'll only buy offroad again if it's the last snus on earth.

Only thing worse than the Offroad I've tried (Cola and Icemint - haven't cracked open the strong portion yet - scared!) is Elixyr Energy. Unless there is some offroad flavor out there that isn't horribly strong and artificial, I can't see myself ever trying again.

is it like skoal or redman etc... longcuts?
Can't imagine offroad wintergreen even approaching skoal wintergreen, which I used to like, their flavors are just way over the top, and whatever tobacco used is somehow tasteless and yet bitter at the same time.

I keep a tin of Offroad long cut regular on hand. I find it has a simple tobacco flavor and the texture is a nice change from fine ground snus. Haven't tried the other products. I have gotten to the point where I only use loose snus. The portion bags just don't seem as natural in my mouth.

i'm not particularly fond of offroad.
i had the offroad portions, which aren't bad...but the loose just sucks. it has a waxy/grainy feel to it. i'd say the best out of what i've tried (original, cranberry) is cranberry.
the offroad long cut 'pure tobacco' tastes like anything but..very bitter, strong flavor that doesn't taste much like tobacco. kind of like how skoal 'straight' doesn't taste like 'straight' tobacco. it's not utterly horrible, but it's far from good in my opinion. and i'm a former dipper.

I think OFF ROAD is doing the Snus industry a disservice. They are taking a great idea that appeals to the expanding base of snus users and ruining it. Think about how many new customers may want to try snus, order OFF ROAD (because they make it sound so delicious) and then get hit in the face with one of the most poorest excuses for Snus that is available and never try Snus again.

Imagine what it would be like if OFF ROAD flavors actually tasted like fresh Ice Mint, fresh peaches or apple, or delicious Coffe Vanilla or Cola. They could make huge inroads into the expanding snus market. Can they not see this ?

Maybe they know their product is awful and don't care. Maybe that is why they run limited edition flavors. They know a certain amount of people will try the stuff just for kicks, so they run a few batches of poorly flavored second rate tobacco snus and package it just to make the quick bucks. They might like the short term results, but in the long run their product line is going nowhere in its current state.

i ordered random brands off of buysnus.com earlier this year to see what i would like. it was my first experience with snuff.

                this is what i ordered:

                LD White Portion 1 Pack
                Level portion 1 Pack
Nick and Johnny Loose 1 Pack
Offroad - Strong Cranberry Portion 1 Pack
                Skruf Strong Loose 2 Packs
                Taboca Snus 1 Pack

out of all of these brands the Offroad Cranberry stood out the most to me. so much in fact that just take a look at my second order:

Nick and Johnny West Portion 1 Pack
Offroad - Strong Cranberry Portion 3 Packs
Offroad Limited - Cola Portion 2 Packs

i love offroad strong portion. it has definitely turned me onto Swedish Snus. I would much rather dip this then my old favorite Red-Man.

Again a testament to the wide variety of tastes we all have. I love the coffee/vanilla as my number 1 snus. The other offroad flavored portions are ok too, but as far as offroad goes I only use the coffee/vanilla now . You can't condem offraod just because some people don't like it. You wouldn't believe all the rave reviews you all have posted on some of the other popular brands of snus, and I dislike alot of what you all favor the most. The snus manufacturers are just trying to target the widest array of personal tastes, thats all.

I think it's just that simple: If people wouldn't buy it, Offroad wouldn't produce it.
Unfortunately, this also happened to the wonderful Mocca mandarine...

I'm not a fan of Offroad myself, but I still praise how hard they try to make something new and interesting. Heck, it can't all be pure tobacco or bergamot.

I really like the Offroad American Wintergreen Longcut. It reminds me of American tobacco, and has a nice little kick to it if you load up enough.

I certainly understand that we all have different tastes and I respect everyone's opinion of this product line. I apologize for my previous post that I think went over the top. I'd really like to discover a snus I would enjoy that is sweet with those unusual flavors and I am frustrated by what I've tried and read.

I've been wondering if the fact that this Snus is not made in Sweden affects the formulation of OFF ROAD. Are their products still subject to food processing laws ? Are the additives regulated ? I'd like to try every one of their flavors, but I've been scared away and do have questions about the quality and purity.

                              well stated and agreed.

i dont particularly care for skruf, i do enjoy the different/off-beat flavors the Swedes come up with. its very refreshing for a company to make something that isn't a mint/peach/apple product.

I don't think you were that over the top. Offroad breaks from the typical snus flavor profile, and I think the product suffers because of it. Sure there's some fans of the snus, but the numbers don't lie. V2 has heavy competition running with Level for the most hated snus. Level's currently in the lead, but V2's a solid contender, and if they play their cards right could overtake Level with a new exotic flavor... Maybe as nice chocolate cherry, that really tastes like salt and tennis shoes :^P
