    Camel Snus

    Hey-
I'm new to this forum. Been using Camel Snus and I like it a lot. Found you all on the Web. What's the key difference between Camel Snus and Swedish Snus? Heard there was a big taste difference but it was made the same way... thanks!

Welcome chrisp! Great to have another snuser here
I started out with triumph snus, a swedish match brand designed for the US market, a short time ago. I have since broadened my horizons with ettan, skruf etc. Others who have had both are more able to tell you the difference.

as far as I have been able to read about camel snus,
      it's two different worlds.

swedish snus is made after a much higher standard.
in sweden, food regulations regulate snus, so the aloved additives are very
controled. The prosses is very regulated to.
the snus is even pasturized before it ships.

the water content is also much higher.

becouse of all of these factors swedish snus is also a product with
a best before date. it must be refrigirated to keep it good.

freazing is also a option for long term storage, but I don't have much experience with that, as I live in norway and can buy a fresh can when
      I needone.

the quality, taste and over all enjoyment is superior with swedish snus
vs. camel. (as far as I can know, I haven't tried camel)

Having tried both, these are the main differences:

-Camel has an artificial sweetness to it. Most Swedish snus doesn't. If there is sweetness, it tastes natural.
-Though available in the mini size (Camel is mini size), the Swedish snus comes in bigger pouches.
-The Swedish stuff is moist, as opposed to the Camel which is dry

I highly recommend you try the real thing. I used Camel for a while... it was how I first heard of snus. But it quickly got old and I went seeking the real thing and the rest is history. Swedish snus is amazing.

Oh yes, I know. I'm a secret Spongebob super-fan. I definitely think that it's the best children's cartoon around right now. And the movie was genius as well. The whole "I rode the Hasselhoff" bit... just classic.

              Camel Snus vs. Triumph Snus

Chrisp, I live in a market where both Camel Snus and Triumph Snus are available.

I have tried both Camel Snus and Triumph Snus and found the Triumph Snus more to my taste.

Triumph Snus is made in Sweden, where Camel Snus is made here in the States. The pouches from Triumph Snus are larger than Camel Snus. Triumph Snus' flavor lasts longer than Camel Snus. Also, Triumph Snus has 24 pouches compared to 20 pouches for Camel Snus. Here in Columbus there is a price difference, Triumph Snus cost about $1.00 less than Camel Snus. I think if you are looking for a Swedish Snus try the Triumph Snus if it's available where you live.

iirc, Storm had said that he was able to get camel to admit that their snus was made by Swedish Match just like Triumph. If that is the case, it would be made to the same standards as all other Swedish snus types. Camel snus, however, has been flavored much sweeter than the majority of most other Swedish Snus varieties.

I started using snus with the Swedish variety. About a week ago, I traveled through Orlando, FL and bought a tin of each type of Camel for review purposes. Honestly, If I had started using camel snus right as I was quitting smoking, It would be great. The heavily sweetened/flavored snus works quite well when your sense of taste/smell has been numbed by years of smoking. After those senses come back, you may find the subtle nature of the true Swedish brands to be more appealing.

I will admit that I have grown to like the Camel frost & spice over the past week. The original, not so much. My next order will most likely contain a tin of Wise pepparmint (which I am guessing is going to be pretty close in flavor to camel frost from other peoples reviews).

Anyways, welcome to the forums Chrisp!

                  Thanks a Ton!

I did check the Triumph stuff out and it was a bit sour for my taste. Don't know if there was more nic in it or what but I also got a slight headache. I did like the way it conformed to my gum though.

I've grown used to the Camel stuff (haven't tried Marlboro) especially like the Frost every day and the Spice with my beer or wine. Again thanks for the replies. Glad to be a part of the Snus crew!

The marboro snus is very, very disappointing. The Camel is ok but not at all like the swedish varieties. They both seem kind of artificial.

I absolutely love the triumph snus. But I can't find anybody kind enough to help me get some more. I live near chicago and the only place its marketed is in Ohio. I have PMed several members here that are in Ohio and never got a reply from them. If anyone can help me get some would you kindly PM me. I'll make it worth your while. I have xtra Camel, Marlboro, and a variety of different Swedish snus [properly stored] that I would be willing to send to you for your trouble. Of course I will gladly pay for the Triumph and for shipping. I just need someone to purchase and ship the Triumph to me. FOR ME........TRIUMPH IS THE BEST........but I just can't seem get it someone to help me out with getting some. HELP!!! Thanks

Is the triumph really that good that it is worth $50/roll ? I'll have to get some to try when im in OH, but I dont forsee it being worth $5+ a can.

Nonetheless, my offer still stands. I have your info... I will be going to OH the end of April on business. will call you while im there if I happen to find a place that sells triumph.

Did Wise make a peppermint snus? If so, please let me know which site is selling it. Thanks man.

Im an idiot. I dont know why I thought they did.

I must have been thinking of this:

                          http://www.iwanries.com/Catch_Dry_Pe...P6993C1410.cfm

seems to only be for sale on www.swedishsnus.com (roll quantity only)
                          or www.iwanries.com in can quantity.

If swedish match is making the camel frost (peppermint) which is a dry white mini, im wondering if this is the same stuff in a different can.

Anyways, forgive my previous post above... It was a brainfart.

na the camel is way different than the catch. Since I was one of the people to try out and do the opinion poll for swedish match for the Triumph snus before it was marketed I had tried ALL the peppermint, mint or any other similar product from swedish match and others that might just be the Triumph in disguise. But I had no luck. Triumph is produced only under the Triumph name and only available in Ohio so far. This is the reason I have such a wide variety of different snus. As far as the $5 a tin goes......... I really don't care. I would just like to have some.

Xobeloot, if I can't get anyone else to send me some Triumph I would be gratefull if you could help me out. Yes it will be some time before you get to Ohio and I know it is more of a hassel for you than for ppl that live in Ohio, but if I have to I'll gladly wait. I was just hopeing that someone on this board from Ohio would be kind enough to help me out. I haven't received any responses to my PMs to those ppl. Anyway, thank you Xobeloot we'll see if anyone also steps up to the plate alittle sooner. Maybe if I say I need it for medicinal purposes..................
