    Daily Snus Journal

Being that I have the day off, I'm at home, I don't have anything in particular to accomplish today, and I have A LOT of tobacco products at my disposal, I decided I will spend the entire day consuming snus, snuff, dip, and pipe tobacco.

To help alleviate boredom, I will chronicle today's usage with this thread and also provide reviews of the tobacco of the moment.

I woke up about an hour ago feeling quite dehydrated from last nights imbibing (several pints of Summit Oktoberfest). The day started with a couple of Vitamin Waters to get the system back on track. The next order of business was pulling out my new 4ml stainless steel Icetool (thanks Buysnus) that I received yesterday and dialing up a 3 click pris of my favorite snus - General Ekstra Sterk. It has paired nicely with the two cups of earl grey I brewed up this morning.

This is by far my favorite snus. Great moisture when fresh, perfect nic hit, and a flavor that is out-of-this-world. It has a strong quality tobacco taste permeated with light bergemot (citrus) and pepper. The great thing about the los is that it dissolves into a wonderful river of flavor which compels me to keep a prilla in for 90 minutes on average. If you like General, try the Ekstra Sterk los.

I am nearing the end of this pris now. I think I will pull out some cellared pipe tobacco and move to the garage for a nice smoke - its 40 degrees outside in Minnesota today. The blend? Dunhill 965. Review to follow...

    Welcome to my nicotine journey.

Thumbs up on the General Ekstra Sterk. My favorite also.

I'm looking forward to seeing what else you get into today.. Especially snuff, I've been on a snuff kick lately and I love hearing about brands and flavors I haven't tried yet.. I'm still waiting patiently on my first Mr Snuff order.

I actually just took a snuff of McChrystal's Original & Genuine. This is my #1 mentholated snuff. It has the right mixture of menthol, camphor, and eucalyptus so as to make it refreshing but not cloying. It also provides a medium-high nic hit. It works great in the morning to clear out the sinuses and wake you up. Also a very nice snuff for beginners.

On the pipe front, I finished loading my Peterson Silver Irish Harp bent bulldog with Dunhill 965. This tobacco always smells amazing un-lit. I've been dinking around the house with it dangling from my mouth for about a half an hour, just enjoying the aroma. Time to fire this bad boy up.

I'm smoking the Dunhill 965 now. What a relaxing English blend. Great latakia content, sweet virginias, and maybe some mild burley round out the flavor nicely. I would say this has a fairly high (satisfying) nic content. I cannot comment on the room note as I have never been around someone else smoking this blend. My girlfriend however has never complained about this one, so it must be tolerable for an English.

Thumbs up! This post reminds me that I am down to my last 2 ounces of this weed. I should cellar a couple of pounds.

Lunch time. More snuff and snus to follow...

Alright. I am feeling like a snuff binge is on tap after lunch. The problem I encounter is deciding where to start... Meet the Snuff Bar. Any suggestions?

No quick suggestions and a nic fit left me no choice: Rooster. This high-caliber snuff is often touted as the highest nicotine American scotch snuff. It is extremely dry and fine and ALWAYS finds its way to the back of your throat. The nicotine blast cannot be compared to any other tobacco product that I've tried, except Dholakia White which is worse. Several times after taking this snuff, I've had to sit down as my head was swimming in nicotine and my brain saturated with dopamine within 10 seconds. The scent is typical American scotch: smoky BBQ, with a strong tobacco background. Great stuff, but definitely a masochistic snuff. I believe it was originally intended for oral use, but its amazing nasal properties were quickly discovered.

Thanks nachowayne. I realized I would be bored today and this seemed like a good way to pass the time. If people actually follow this thread, that's a bonus.

I think my new tin of Offroad Long Cut Apple is calling out to me from the fridge. Never tried this one before, nor any long cut snus. I love long cut dip so I think this should go well as long as the apple flavor isn't too artificial or candy-like. But first, one more dance with the Rooster...

The Offroad Long Cut Apple... Hmmm... First impressions after about 1 minute are of a light green apple-like flavor. The Icetool seemed to make a decent pris, even with this long cut los. The tobacco looks exactly like long cut american dip - I bet it would be great to hillbilly this los. I'm not sure if I've ever tasted an apple like this, but it is not a bad flavor at all. I'm curious how this will develop as things get juicier.

5 minute update. I'm definitely feeling the nicotine coming on with this, almost in an abrupt full-on way like dip. Interesting.

I liked the Offroad Long Cut Apple. It did not give enough juice for my tastes, but all in all it was good on both the flavor and nicotine scale. The nic hit reminded me of dip, but was longer lasting. I think I will try lower-decking a pinch tomorrow.

Next up... Fribourg & Treyer Old Paris and Toque Toast & Marmalade snuffs for awhile, followed by a pris of General Ekstra Sterk.
