    Question on taxes

So I followed advice from you guys, and being 19, I had help from a 21 year old friend to order snus from buysnus while I paid for it with my card (nothing illegal there right, I mean I am of legal age).

Now the question is what about taxes? I want to pay the taxes (I don't want to take the risk) but who is the one that gets taxed? Me or my friend? Who sends in the form?

Technically your friend is the purchaser who's name is on file and therefore he/she is the responsible party.

Have no idea on filing in the Duhkotas!

Okay, and what does he have to do for the federal taxes?

And what are the chances of getting caught?

I wouldn't worry about it, I have never heard of anyone having somebody come after them for tax ... Do you pay your tax on every internet purchase you made at the end of the year on your taxes... Yeah I do... Don't worry about it... As long as your not buying boat loads of it every week I wouldn't worry .

It's kinda like playing russian roulette ... definitely hit-or-miss.

This has been covered in a couple other threads but I forget which ones.
Try doing a forum search for taxes ... another hit-or-miss situation.

And remember: the states and the feds are certainly working at
making it harder to evade their inconsiderate taxes.

While I have read a few stories of people getting bills in the mail for cigarette taxes it was because the company in question released the data to the government entity in question. Coming from Sweden I am not sure the communication is all that great and I doubt anyone ever knows you bought tobacco. The tobacco companies I read about where people were getting tax bills where all USA based. So while I assume it is possible to get a bill, I somehow doubt it. I however most certainly pay all my taxes... cough

No, no, they use all our tobacco tax money to stay in the 4-star fancy-schmancy hotels.

If they want the paltry tax money they can send me a bill. I'm not going to spend 5 hours figuring out what paperwork to fill out. I'm sure it costs more to collect the tax than what they make. I know at one point the IRS spent 100 million dollars collecting 250 million in taxes for income tax I believe.
