    Montecristo loose review

Got my can of montecristo loose from Northener. It's shorter than the portion tin and you only get 35 grams for your money but the whole thing weighs 60 grams so shipping it isn't that bad. It costs around $1 more than SM brands.

    Colour: Very dark

Texture: Extremely fine almost feathery akin to ettan and roda. It bakes like playdoh

Smell: Hard to pin-point. It's same as the portions but MOAR intense. A pure earthy tobacco scent with hints of perhaps fruit[?] or chocolate[?]

Taste: Need to do more prillas to be sure but can't taste much apart from tobacco and a little sweetness. Much of the exotic aroma does not translate into flavour which I think is a good thing and typical of the r&j/mont portions.

    Nicotine: Your standard nic kick

Overall a great snus, definitely worth trying. I'lll add a tin to my order when I'm feeling extravagant Another interesting element is that our local gotland-one-man-propaganda-machine jimbo said montecristo is produced in the same factory as gotland

Man, I miss Jimbo, and sort of feel bad - I used to tease him for being so in love with Gotlandssnus and would jokingly suggest that he was somehow in league with them  Since he's disappeared, though, I've really come to love Gotlands just about as much as he seemed to, as have a ton of other people. If only he could see us now.

I did - a few months back. Don't think he stops by any longer, though.

I'm half-way through my first can of it.

It's pure tobacco with a quite simple begamot-flavoring of medium-strength, as far as I can taste/smell.

The taste is nowhere near a Cuban cigar, but the combination of mildness and spiciness, that is typical for Cuban tobacco, can be found to some extent.

The nicotine-kick is on the strong side of the normal-strength-snuses.

I tend to make quite big prises of it. The taste is unintrusive, interesting and the brand is definitely worth a try.

This brand has the potential to become a favorite for many snusers. It's definitely one of the best rather slightly flavored pure-tobacco-snuses.

The only downside for me is, that I think that this would be an even better snus without the bergamot-flavor.

          Cheers!

            Gotland and Montecristo

The Gotlandssnus factory is now owned by Taboca AS, the manufacturer of the Cubans and Taboca Portion. Gotlandssnus snus is produced there under contract.

I have heard a lot of good things about the montecristo portions and the ryj portions and now the montecristo los. I really wish I could try them. One downside of being in the US I guess. Although if there is anyone out there that would be willing to ship me a tin or two of the montecristo los and even possible either of the portions I would gladly pay you for the tin+shipping+little extra for your time. Please PM me or something if you are willing and we can work something out. Thanks

Could anyone clear up whether or not Northerner will sell the "cuban" snus to Americans?

I've heard yes, but never order from Northerner and am just curious if anyone has had success.

As I expected, from hearing the montecristo review, I would absolutely love this snus.

From the texture to the subtle flavor other than a pure tobacco.

Being a complete snus ignoramous when I started this last year, I have only ordered from Northerner (they've been fastastic and extremely prompt with deliveries). I just today finished a tin of Romeo y Julieta Senorita that I wanted to try. I've had both Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta portions delivered to me without any question. It wasn't until I read on this forum of the Buysnus blockage that I learned there was a problem.

You must've lucked out..... Now when you go to Northerner.com, it takes it out of your cart when you try to pay due to customs regulations. I guess they either caught on or didn't want to get crap for shipping embargoed goods to the US.

                    Cheers,

                    Erik

Could have been luck. The most recent Romeo y Julieta was received maybe two weeks ago as part of a large order. Only one tin of it. But I liked it a lot and will try ordering it again. I got the other tins about a year ago without incident. Wasn't in love with the regular portion, so I didn't reorder.

You know, I bet a "little birdie" told someone about Northerner providing them when Buysnus didn't. Damn that bird.

so TropicalBob are you saying you are still able to get RyJ and Montecristo from Northerner these days? You received a RyJ just 2 weeks ago from them? If so thats awesome and might be worth a try.

Yes, two weeks ago, but the whole thing puzzles me. What I ordered, just to try, was Romeo y Julieta Senorita, the smaller dry portion. It came with my order.

I like it enough to order it again, so I'll try again with next order. I really didn't care all that much for Montecristo or Romeo y Julieta regular portions.
