    Adjusting Tastebuds

It's been a while since I'd had a portion of Skruf Cranberry or Göteborgs Rapé No.2, since my initial impression of them was not so good. I'm not one to waste, though, so I popped in a portion of Skruf Cranberry and after a while, I actually, FINALLY, tasted some cranberry. It was crazy; I can't see how I missed it the first few times. That being said, in terms of cranberry flavor, I actually found the OR version to be a bit more natural tasting, though it was too sweet for me. Xobeloot, I remember your query about the differences between the two--have you tried them both yet? What's your verdict?

When I re-tried the Göteborgs Rapé No.2, I was astounded. Berries! Lingonberries! I could actually taste it, and it was wooonderful. I'd been using the Göteborgs Rapé mini white portions for a while, and I guess I got used to the juniper flavor that so overwhelmed me. I honestly with they made No.2 in mini portions, though--it's one of my favorites so far.

Anyway, yeah, I was and still am really excited that I finally tasted something. I'm not sure how much smoking has affected my tastebuds, and though I've cut back, I don't think it's been enough to let them fully recover. Maybe it takes a while for one's palette to get used to snus regardless of whether or not he or she smoked? Ionno.

I think you answered your own Q. But beyond the smoking, I've come to believe that snus is an acquired taste, and that it takes a while to learn to appreciate what it has to offer.

Even my LD minis, which at first tasted to me like cardboard, (when I was still smoking) now have a a distinct, tolerable, if somewhat low-rent tobacco flavor, and I don't mind them.

My first day snusing both general and ettan tasted and smelled like pure tobacco, only a week later I can smell the difference with my eyes closed. I think you learn to appreciate the flavor and notice it over the nicotine taste and buzz.

This might be different for you, but as a newcomer I am pretty sure that is how it worked for me

Honestly, I am very happy with the OR cran. I never bothered to order the skruf. Maybe if the skruf had a loose option I'd give it a go, but for now I stick with the offroad.

I am due for another order. I only have 2 cans of non-stark loose left. I have lots of N&J portions, 2 cans of N&J loose and about 6 cans of Skruf stark. I just do not know what I want to order. I have been trying to delay my order until Gotlands Jacobsonn's is released, but I may not make it that far. I just cant make up my mind what I want to order.

I've been hooked on loose almost since day one, but I think I may explore more of the portions that I have neglected. Maybe a can of GR2 and Skruf Cran will go on this order.

My taste buds have moved all over the map as I ahve been using snus close to a year now. Things I tried earlier that I didn't like, I now like. And things I used to love now taste funny. For example, I got a can of Ettan for the first time and I did NOT like it. Now, it just had a funny taste to it, that I can't really describe. And other snus that I have loved for a while will eventually start to turn on me. Skruff Stark was a regular for about two months, and over the last can, I started to really not like it that much. Suddenly, the taste just started to become to overwhelming

I have just come to the conclusion that, other than NEVER trying phantom or level again, I need to be flexible and keep trying things occasionally. And when I start to settle on a few brands, make sure I mix it up enough so they won't turn on me.

Snus, as much as I have used and learned about it, still manages to mystify me sometimes.

Skruf tranbär tastes like evil incarnate! It is my most hated snus because of its artificial and chemical flavour. Rapé No.2 on the otherhand is great.
