My first thoughts are they will be similar to that Tourney brand. Extremely dry but not as over the top sweet as Camel.

What is the date they are allowed to start selling it? is it the 19th or earlier?

NOTHING like fermented tobacco. I'll do some checking and asking around and find out. I'm looking at it from a marketing viewpoint, why would you need to refrigerate snus in a tobacco store, when the product turns so quickly? Don't get me wrong, I think it was a great marketing idea, lol. I can see someone at home tossing them in the fridge or freezer to preserve the product, because it's going to sit in their home until used.
Yea, there was an independent study that showed TSNA increase was minimal over months of warm storage. Also, someone in the biz(Andrew R?) has said the fridges are purely marketing. I prefer my snus cold regardless of anything else.

If I see the new Marlboro Original can, I'll get one, if it isn't too expensive.

The gas station up the road has the new Skoal Snus. $2.99 intro price. Just got a roll of General Mint from Lil' Brown Smoke Shack yesterday, so I passed on the "opportunity" to try it.

No sign of marlboro red though? Only one I wanna try. I hate mint or wintergreen if its not Grizzly dip.

Wait, they have Skoal Snus now? That sounds like it would be extremely sweet. I'd be down to try it though.

Only thing I've seen so far is a comment someone left in my article about it on my website.

That guy just sounds like a skoal fanboy. I do wish he would have went in depth on what it tastes like though.

TSNAs increase quickly in snus that is not refrigerated or frozen.

"By refrigerating the snus after production, snus tobacco resists fermentation that tobacco stored at room temperatures undergoes even after its been packaged. Storing tobacco at room temperature for six months increases TSNA levels by 30 to 130 percent, whereas in refrigerated snus tobacco there's no increase in TSNAs [source: Foulds et al.]."

Quoted from the article found at http://health.howstuffworks.com/well...cohol/snus.htm

I see your web page, and raise you a cited, government sponsored research paper :^P

The TSNA levels in the two leading U.S. snuff brands, accounting for 69 % of the 1999 U.S. market (14), were found to increase during 6 months storage at room temperature between 30 and 130 %, while the TSNA concentration in the Swedish brand increased inconsequentially. These observations suggest the possibility that Government agencies may mandate that commercial snuff brands significantly reduce their levels of TSNA with the goal of £10 µg/g, and that snuff be kept stored refrigerated by wholesale and retail stores. In future studies it must be documented at which temperature snuff can be stored without an increase of the concentrations of TSNA.

The "swedish brand" this is referring to is Timber Wolf:

"Interestingly, Timber Wolf, made by Swedish Match, had the lowest TSNA values of the domestic brands tested"

Plus I know I read somewhere that this study is flawed.

Nah, the Swedish brand is Ettan. They did also note that the Swedish owned brands were lower than the American owned brands were.

Another new feedback on my article about this that isn't from a fanboy of Skoal.

"I just bought the Skoal Snus Mint and its good as well.Very reminiscent of General Mint. I think the pouches could be a bit smaller though. Lots of juice too."
