The problem is people are people. Swedes aren't any different than Americans, and not too many people here came to snus from an experienced background. Americans need to be told what's good, instead of having everything dumbed down for them. I like Skittles, and I like sushi, but I don't want sushi that tastes like Skittles. Some things are worth putting in a little effort to understand, and appreciate, instead of going for the basest attraction. If someone wants candy; fine. There's plenty of choices at the candy counter, and it's super easy and cheap to purchase. If someone wants to put on the big boy pants, and use tobacco, they should use tobacco, and not nicotine infused candy.
What's going to happen, is everybody will expect snus to be candy, so that's what the manufacturers will supply. There'll be no General, or anything else worth using. Once mail order completely gets shut down, that'll be it. We'll have Marlboro, Skoal, and small handful of Swedish brands that are only Swedish due to the country of origin. They'll be just as Americanized as our homegrown crap.
Edit:
Here's a quote from another forum that I think fits very well in this instance. This guy's a professional chef, and a brewer...

It's quite simple Americans have been trained to think bad beer tastes good. Just as more consumers buy margarine than butter and cryovac meats instead of dry aged. Cultivating bad habits takes dedication, research and is almost always expensive. Slamming down an ice cold brew you can hardly taste isn't a bad habit, it's just trashy and, unfortunately, uniquely American.
