Well sharesnusinfo - I'm really angry with your company and yes it's one of my favourites too (the majority of SnusOn members is probably a good test of the quality of a snus - we try a lot of them!). I thought the Gotlands Gul would be there forever - it is a high quality product with one of the best combinations of flavours to compliment the quality tobacco in your snus.
Of course I understand the business implications of a product which is not making a profit, but you hardly gave the Gotlands yellow a chance because you created Jakobsson's original with a nearly identical flavour profile but not quite as tasty - competing directly with your own product. I can remember how excited I was when Jakobsson's was first made because my favourite manufacturer was doing something new, and how disappointed I was that it was just a watered down version of my favourite one in a different can. I didn't realise it would mean the end of Gotland's Yellow.
In this loss making brand - you have a lot of very loyal customers who realise the brilliant R&D that has gone in to the most perfectly balanced snus flavour. I think you owed them the decency of pushing the product the same as you have Jakobsson's - the low sales cannot only be because of the flavour we all like.
Yours disappointed!

I think the key to flavoring snus is to not go overboard on it. Flavors should compliment the tobacco, and not overpower it :^)

I would love a coffee flavored snus that actually taste like regular coffee.

So - Gotlands Yellow portions have dropped off the listings at Northerner now, they have some los left and Buysnus are still showing a bit of the Gotlands Yellow left too.
That was quick, it makes me really sad to see such a fine quality snus disappear because of bad marketing and over-eagerness to get in to the American market at the expense of Gotlands' regular customers and integrity, what's next Jimmy? A new range of Jakobsson's Cola, Beef Jerky and spray-on cheese flavoured snus with added sweeteners to go with your new range of wintergreen and mint offerings? You could always pull them if the sales in Sweden aren't going too well ... duh!
Who said I was giving him a hard time? He's a company rep on a forum about the thing his company sells for goodness sake! It's not personal! As I remember he only popped up here on SnusOn because they wanted to push Jakobsson's when it was first created - a decision to sell a slightly inferior flavour in a flashy can for slightly more with less portions in a can and a wacky new flavour which ultimately resulted in the withdrawal of my favourite snus from general sale. No - it's Gotlands who I'm having a go at here. They used to have a lot of respect for the way they did things around here, and that's the way to go for a small to moderately sized business - keep the trusted brands, play to their strong points and market worldwide through goodwill and word of mouth (aided by the internet of course).
Guinness hasn't always been the brand leader it is now - but they believed in their product and they were right too - the correct marketing has made it a worldwide brand. I wish Gotlandsnus had as much faith in their recipe for Gotlands Yellow.

Squeezy
I have been here since i started working with snus Januari 2008.
to have a forum like this and actually be in contact directly with the custumers is unique.
As a sayd before we are a very small snusmanufacturing company, and for us to sell a brand with lost is not sustainable.
The Gotlandssnus Gul loose & portion was a lost for us therefore the closure of the flavor. Nothing else.
Our way to go for the US-Market is a way for us to acculy make our brand seen.
In Sweden the market is owned by SWM (85%) & Fiedler & lundgren (10%) [other manufaturers fight of 5%]
Swm has set a standard in Sweden that snus are a must storage at 8dgC, and has placed fridges in all the retailers in Sweden.
This make it very hard for us to get market share in Sweden.
In the US it´s much easier to get in to the retailers since we dont need a fridge. (SWM is going to do this in US as well "fridges")
in Sweden it´s sell´s about 220 million cans per year and in the us about 1 billion cans smokeless per year.
In Sweden the costumers are very conservative for new brands and dont even want to try new brands. this is not the same in the US.
hope you get some answers./Jimi
