Ok, So I'm using Los......... I NEED HELP!!!

And i'm utilizing a PrisMaster.......... Currently loading with Goteborg Prima Fint. From what I understand, no los will is better for getting started that this brand (although I do have some Ettan and Roda Lacket available as well, in the fridge).

I can't keep a los in for more than 20 minutes before it starts to slide down my front teeth..... I'm not drinking, not screwing with it with my tongue, not talking. Just letting it sit, yet still it slides. I make sure it's a solid, strong pris before I put it in. Am I doing something wrong?

Should I spit what slides down? Should I swallow it down with a wash of water or cola?

I need help! I'm really diggin' los snus (as i'm usually a user of white portions), but it's not holding up well, and I don't know if it's me or something i'm doing or what. I need Help!!!

Would the hefty investment of an Icetool improve this? I've tried hand-baking, and honestly, the PrisMaster packs a more solid pris, that I slightly hand bake after popping it out of the tool. I've tried just jamming it in my upper lip after packing the PrisMaster, and that has the same effect.

What's going on here?! I hear some can keep a prilla of los in for HOURS! This is just unimagineable to me after what i've been going through. Any los users, PLEASE........ Give me some tips/advise as to what to do.

Cheers, and thanks in advance for the recommendations/help.

    Cheers,

    Erik

hey dude....many may disagree with me....but I say hand bake it into a nice fat barrel...in some ways, if its big it stays together better from being so tightly packed in your lip. I can go two hours with no drip. I've found the priss master makes too small of a priss.

You'll get better at keeping it in place as time goes on. Against prevailing opinion, I would suggest using your tongue to keep the snus jammed in your lip. It might be a bit harder with the Prima Fint, but it works great with coarser snus'.

I constantly play with the lös, and keep it corralled towards center, and it doesn't generally get out of control. Just eat the bits that fall, and go on about your business. You might want to try some coarser snus'. They're much more satisfying to nibble on when you get a little piece :^)

Seriously though, you might have better success with a heavier snus. I prefer the coarse brands myself, and generally find them more enjoyable than the very fine grinds.

Oddly enough, it seems that ease of baking and ability to stay together are inversely related.

Of the brands you mention, the Ettan is the most likely to stay together (actually, it's another brand that likes to run, just not as much as the other two).

I agree about the coarse ground stuff, like Grov (which is easy to bake AND stays in place). Some other good brands to try might be Skruf, Granit (lives up to its name ), and Gotlands.

As a long time portion user, who only recently has played with los a bit, I can say that your experience seems normal to me. my fist few times were much like yours. But it does get easier with a bit of experience. I can now leave the los in for over an hour.

I definitely found, as other suggested, that a bit courser los might be a bit easier to handle.

Good luck. Personally, I really am a portion guy. They are all my little, individually packaged, best friends. But every once in a while, I like the change up.

That is so true. I would also say that Grov is the one brand thats super easy to bake and stay together. I can not stand a runny priss and have given up on Ettan.

I can't believe the phrase "runny priss" is now in my lexicon.

              Too funny...

The only lös I've used thus far is the Skruf Stark, and I don't find it runny, but after about an hour or so it gets muddy, and I get the distinct impression that I'm done with it.

I am usually more of a portion guy, but since I got this last order it's been nothing but Los at home. I use Ettan Los, Prima Fint, Grov Los, and Knox Los. I don't own an icetool but I do use a prismaster.

When I first started using los it was very hard to keep it in longer than 20 minutes. Now I can keep a pris in for at least an hour; (sometimes a LOT longer). I usually fill the prismaster and pack it until about 1/4 to 1/3 of the little square slider thing is left over. If I get too much I push a little out, if I get too little, I pack in a little more.

Another good tip is make sure your lip is dry! Dry your top lip and gum with the back of your hand or with a paper towel. When I do that my pris always stays in place and doesn't change it's shape much. As long as I don't mess with it, it will stay in place long enough to get my nicotine fix and get plenty of wonderful snus-flavor, (At LEAST an hour).

My only problem with los is that it leaves one hell of a lump like I have some sort of birth defect, and I have a little trouble talking normally--that's why I stick to at home use only for my los indulgments.

Well, I once was so consumed playing a game on my computer that I totally forgot the pris in my mouth for about 5+ hours. No mud or anything.
By the time I got around to taking it out my upper lip hurt like a b*tch for another fine hour.

Must've made comment about this on here a while ago.

I really suggest you get the hand baking down. I tried using icetool but I think it doesnt make the pris firm enough, even though I really packed it tight. It starts to crumble immediately after I put it under my lip. Another way is using the icetool/prismaster to shape the pris and then finish with your hands to make it firm.

My baking makes a crumbly pris, so I just forgo it and just pinch the snus and place it in. I can bake firmer than the pinch but I haven't noticed that it makes a great deal of difference.

i keep mine in for hours but i also spit a lot and drink sodas a lot.
the first half hour or so that it's in, it tends to still be grainy and be spattered amongst my teeth. after that, the saliva has soaked into it enough that it keeps it in a better shape and more together than before. drinking sodas helps wash away some of the crap on my teeth. i find the dryer the snus is when it goes in the harder it is to keep in place. try adding a few drops of good water to it when baking. it is easier to manage. i do this with gustavus all the time. that stuff is very grainy and it bakes just like swedish match brands after i add water.
also after you know your saliva has gotten into it...try scooping it out, rinsing your mouth out, and rebaking the pris...this may make it hold better as well...use your finger to nudge it up and make a gap between the snus and your gumline.
as far as not spitting and keeping it in tact...i dunno...i haven't yet learned to not spit with snus.

I'd definitely recommend an Icetool. There's nothing out there that can compact a pris like the Icetool. Sure, it costs a bit, but you have to take in consideration how often you'll be using it, and how it will solve your pris troubles

I am with lxskllr on this one. I like to use my tongue to keep it in place and bring a little flavor down with it. I use the pris master and don't have any problems getting a tight enough pris to keep in my mouth for at least an hour. One might get a little mud mouth this way but the majority of the pris is kept nice and tight.
