Snus that taste better with age

A few days ago I opened my last can of Skruf Stark Los with a best by date of June 2010. I hadn't planned on ordering more because of its unavailability in the U.S, but I wasn't ready quite yet to give it up, so I paid a buttload in shipping and ordered a few cans from Buysnus. They arrived today, two days after ordering, with a best by date of April 2011. I noticed quite a huge difference between the old and new. The new is very pungent smelling, that fresh ammonia smell and the taste had a bitterness to it. The old can has neither and tastes much better. I'm not complaining, this actually gives me hope that Skruf is one of those snus' that freezes and ages well. Anyone else notice a snus that tastes better months after its 'expiration' date???

From my experiance of only using one snus for several years is the different batches are likely to taste different. I talked to Patrik at v2 about this and he aggreed wholewheartedly. Apparently there are too many variables to keep produceing snus that tastes exactly the same batch after batch. The tobacco itself and the flavorings can differ somewhat. Even tho they buy from wholesalers products that are supposed to be the exact same ingredients they can vary.

Now I do feel snus that was very recently made can be different that 2 month old snus. But after that it seems to stay the same if its frozen. I never had snus that smelled of ammonia. But snuff, yes. If its really fresh there can be a terrible ammonia smell.

I've found that if I freeze snus immediately after purchase even 2 years down the line it tastes exactly the same.

I think V2 snus tastes better with age. They seem to be a little heavy handed with the flavoring, and that mellows out after several months in the fridge. The only V2 snus I prefer fresh is the lakrits. I like that to have a full bodied taste.

Oh yea ,it will change in the fridge for sure but Deserex said it was in the freezer. I just can't see it changing flavors in the freezer........unless its been in there for maybe 10 years.
