A ? for our resident dual users.. Snuff/Snus

I'm just wondering if my nic tolerance has gone way up since I started snuffing. What i've been doing the past few weeks is take a pinch of snuff right before the moment I pop in a regular strength pris or portion. Just as a pick me up before the snus hits in. I don't do it though with sterks i.e Nick and Johnny. A couple nights ago I was in the mood for a big hit so I popped in a General extra sterk. Sat back waited for the punch in the face and granted it felt stronger but not like extra sterks in the past. Do you guys find that your threshold has gone up since using both? Do you use both at once or one at a time? I usually use F&T HDT and fubar grunt so that may have something to do with it.

Nasal snuff hits you fast like cigarettes, while snus hits you pretty slow with nicotine. I'm sure smoking cigarettes while using snus will result in a similar blood nicotine level. Personally, I just stick with snus. I don't want to get addicted to the fast hit of nicotine with nasal snuff.

I do, at times, use both at once, but if I think about it, I tend to snuff after the portion has released the bulk of its nicotine. I guess that's more of an in between use. I have no doubt that nicotine tolerance increases as one regularly consumes more nicotine. If you still want the sterks to send you, just cut down your overall use of nicotine for a few days. Failing that, buy yourself some Makla red or silver.

I second that Khalid. The Makla will do the trick.

I've heard it said that one pinch in each nostril is about the same amount of nicotine that you'd get in a cigarette. I think TropicalBob said that. I didn't find that to be the case. To me it was less than a cig's worth but certainly there. Of course adding nic will up your tolerance. Especially where you add it.

I bet they could make a "fast snus" by adjusting the Ph. That could be a marketing gimmick that might work in the US.

Am I the only one who doesn't feel anything from snuff?
It is no where near a cigarettes worth of nicotine, but it does make the buzz stronger in you use it in conjunction with suns.

I can get a little buzzy from snuff, especially the American scotches. It's fairly fleeting, but noticeable.

As to the OP...I think your nicotine tolerance has just been raised. really not much you can do about that short of quitting nicotine for awhile. I use snuff and snus together. I don't really use snuff so much as a nicotine source. It's more a pleasant diversion for the scent.

That is really how I approach it........I love the smell and it gives a little boost to a pris..............but not really anything all that noticeable and not anything that I can't be without for extended periods of time.
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Thanks for the input guys! I've decided to not think too much into it and just enjoy the experience. Both snuff and snus are alot less expensive than cigs and alot more enjoyable. So if my tolerence is higher so be it. With the minimal health risks why not?

I use both snus and snuff, but not at the same time. I almost exclusively use los and snuff makes my nose run to the point where I have to blow after 5-10 minutes. If I blow with a pris in, it's landslide time (or worse). I like to use snuff in the evenings, usually after 4 or 5 days of snus, to give my gums a break. I find that snus (especially sterks) ups my tolerance a lot more than snuff does. If I go a day or two with just snuff, then the snus hits me a lot harder. The thing I like about snuff is that you can achieve snus-like nicotine levels if you keep taking pinches in rapid succession.

I also smoke the occasional pipe and I do like to snuff during a pipe session for the added Vitamin N. Molens makes a nice latakia snuff that pairs well with most english mixtures.
