    Consolidation of Reviews?

So I've been surfing through the oh 26+ pages of threads trying to read all the product reviews here, and, frankly a bit of a pain in the rear. It'd be nice to have just the reviews consolidated into some form. The comparison thread is great, but I like reading more in-depth profiles and user's thoughts. Would probably be a heap of work for the forum admins to locate and move that many threads/posts. Ideally I'd imagine a forum exclusively for reviews with one thread for each specific variety (separate threads for los, portion, white portion,etc...).

I dunno, as a newer snusare I'd find it incredibly helpful, and probably consult it prior to each order.

I agree, but would not want the work of organizing that.

I don't know how hard it is to set up, but there is a great cigar database that allows you to choose the specific cigar and write your review and also judge the cigar on specific issues. It is very informative and detailed. Also the snus database would not be anywhere as large. Here is the link to give you an idea about how it was done.

Ditto a database for pipe tobaccos. Brand by brand, rated by stars, with truly in-depth reviews of flavor, nicotine hit, room odor, tongue bite, etc. I use it every time I want to experiment with a new pipe tobacco item. Great to have.

we had thrown around the idea of a rating/review forum here several months back. The idea sortof collapsed into that thread where people just rated their tastes via emoticons.

I wouldnt think it would be too hard for the admin to create a new sub-forum:

          Snus Reviews
          > Swedish Match
          > Gotlandssnus
          > v2
          > F&L
          > ...you get the idea...

Something along those lines. Then begin the painfully long process of relocating already created threads to their appropriate home allowing for easy locating of reviews and easy additions of new unique reviews.
I'd be willing to help with the moving of the threads if needs be, but im sure that Ice, Mw and Zero could knock it out pretty quick.

This could also be a good way for Ice to get in touch with a rep from each brand to potentially moderate their own forum and post info on current and future product while seeing what a world-wide group of snus users thinks about their product (money in Icetool's pocket means more funding for more icetool product development)

I work for a division of a company that makes food drinks. Each drink has a detailed description for initial taste, aftertaste, astringency (or what can be considered throat catch), mouth feel, main flavors, and subtle flavors. These are done by a qualified/educated taster. I would think each snus manufacturer must have something written for their quality assurance department to determine if their respective flavors meet their own product description. Consumers want and expect product consistency. Off flavors also are indicative of product spoilage of any type. I don't know how willing the manufacturers would be to let the forum post their own QA descriptions, but it would be a great step in the direction of making a great forum area. A post for each particular product could be created by the moderator with the company description and we the consumers could comment about the description and our own experiences.

I think this would be very tough to do properly. The decent reviews on this site are too widely scattered, and a new forum for reviews would degenerate into small discussions on the different snus'. If this were to be done, I think a new forum should be created, and individuals write up individual reviews for the snus'. The review would then be edited by the community, and when it passes muster for accuracy, and completeness it would then be stickied and locked in the forum as a permanent entry.
