What draws you guys to White Portions? I don't get it

What do you guys like about white portions? What can possibly draw some one to a portion with less taste? Or am I wrong here? I've only a couple white portion cans before....

Catch...which I thought was total garbage
    RL white...ok...i guess
TreAnkre (spelled completely wrong)....as I've said before, toilette paper biscuits.

Should I give them more of a try or maybe my personal tastes ensures I'll never like white?

I love Ettan and Lucky Strike regular portions. What do people like about the white version?

I'm not sure like is the right word. Generally, I don't get many white portions. But... There a few good things I generally do like about them. They hold up for a long time. I can tend to forget, and leave a portion in for hours sometimes. I have gravitated towards snus that hold up well. And whites always do.

Ultimately, it's more of a flavor issue. Sometimes, a particular snus that I might like (Etten is a good example) comes off as too strong. The White Ettans are just perfect IMHO.

I'm curious how long you have snused for? I have been using for over a year now, and my tatstes have moved all over the map of the course of time. Certain Snus I used to love have turned on me (Skruff, for example). And other snus I tried out early and didn't like, now are good. So, if you don't much like white now, still take a chance once in a while and throw one in your order. You might find that suddenly. you like it very much.

I never had the impression that white portions lack some taste. Maybe initially, but this changes as the portion becomes more and more salivated :-)

I also think that Catch is complete garbage but I like Röda Lacket pretty much.

I think that they are just not for you. Some people only use lös, some rather go for portions and others like drier portions even more. This is something individual I think and one should use whatever type of snus he/she likes or feels like.

As for me, I can think of the following reasons:
First I like to take a dry portion into my mouth and feel it's coarse surface scratching my gums while playing around with it. This coarseness then slowly vanishes as the portion becomes more moisturized. You can't have this with normal portions that often start to feel kinda slimy quite soon after putting them in.
Second does the snus' taste seem to develop more slowly with white portions (except for the moccas) and I like this slow increase of taste.
And the third point ist that white portions look more hygienic while normal portions are brown and sometimes have some stains on them. This is not a real issue to me as I also take normal portions quite frequently but I think that it may play an unconscious role on what one preferes.

        thanks for the response dudes.

i've only been snusing about 2 months and, indeed, have already seen my tastes change. For instance, I thought General los was too peppery at first. I now find it to be a clean, non-cloying satisfying snus.

that being said, i can't ever imagine turning on skruf! but who knows...

I think I'll throw in a can of white every now and then. aardvark's description made them sound damn good..

I thought the same thing until I got my tin of Romeo y Julieta Senoritas. These are everything I've been looking for in a discreet, white mini. (The Wise 6mg works, but there's no joy in it.) The flavor is awesome!

Does it replace my go-to snus, like Stark loose and N&J? Hell no, but gives me an option in certain public environments that I can actually be enthusiastic about.

Also, the whites are a perfect introduction to snus for cigarette smokers who are put-off by the harder core tobacco portions or loose, especially (not to sound sexist, sorry!) women. I have a sister who really wants to quit smoking, but can't, and she- because I haven't smoked in 2 months- recently bought some Wise and some N&J. She's using the Wise, but the N&J freaks her out, and now she's going to get some R&J.

          So they have their place.

Total agreement, Asquar. The Romeo y Julieta Senorita is one of the best tasting snus I've ever tried.

And I might stand alone but I like the CatchDry Peppermint -- a lot. It's one of the very few I use every day, several times a day. Ditto the Wise 6mg offerings with their incredible 10-minute countdown to the nic knockout.

I don't like white portions all the time, but I don't really have a choice with some brands. Do I wish that Goteborgs Rape was also available in regular, brown portion format? You bet I do. But since they only come in white and loose, I have to buy the whites if I want it in portions.

I don't have much of a problem with white portions. I usually just place them on my tongue for a few seconds to get some moisture on them before putting them in my upper lip. That way the flavor comes on a bit faster and I don't get that rasping sensation against my gums.

Something worth mentioning: I'm a huge fan of portions that are someplace in between white and brown. For instance, Knox. They aren't dry enough to be white, but they aren't as moist as traditional brown portions. Knox is a perfect all-day portion snus for me.

Make your own Goteborg Rape Pouches

I found I could make minis. I bought teabags which seal with a flatiron off of ebay and iron a cross in them with the edge of a flatiron to get four compartments. I used a 1/4 teaspoon to measure but now have a prismaster and reckon it will greatly aid in loading the pouches. Then you just iron them shut. Load them in an old portion can.

I don't really like white portions either. The only ones I buy are unavailable in normal form(Onyx, Catch eucalyptus, Metropol pepparmint). I don't like the dryness, and I don't feel the flavor really lasts longer for me, but it may be more constant throughout the use time.

Really!? I've played with tea bags a little bit, and made a few stark minis, but couldn't get them to seal well enough for carrying. Do they really stay closed?

I actually prefer whites to regular portions because of the relative tidiness and convenience, I guess. They tend not to start oozing for a longer time, go into place and stay put happily, and are easier to handle. As for flavour, it is still there, just a bit more muting on first inserting them. Compared to loose they are a totally different sensation, but you could compare them to smoking a filtered king size rather than a roll-your own cigarette.

Yes! Me too ... then it would reappear in my daily rotation.

I agree. Knox is prolly the one snus I won't ever get tired of, and one of the characteristics that makes a difference (besides flavor and nic-hit) is exactly this perfect balance in between. I also find the Gotland-products to be in this category. It's funny though, just a few months back I just couldn't get it soaky enough ...

Nothing! I can hardly tolerate white portions. I've tried them several times and over some months. Now, I haven't bought any of them for about a year.

                          Cheers!

The more portions I use the more I gravitate away from White portions.. and my gums thank me for it.

I find that many original portions last just as long as some whites (Lucky Strike and Nick and Johnny being notable, and lasting about as long as RL white or LD White).

Yes, you can buy empty tea bags of the heat sea variety. The iron seals them. So, you can use the edge to make seams. Also, if you make pouches, you can iron the open end shut. I used the highest setting on the iron. Surf Heat Seal Tea Bag
