Gotland Yellow Lös- as Good as Advertised

I finally opened the tin yesterday, and though I didn't notice anything special at first, it sort of creeped up on me. This stuff is immensely flavorful without being overwhelming, and is just plain really good.

I'm almost thinking I like it better than the Skruf Stark, I don't know. But this is most definitely the kind of snus one could use every day. Two thumbs up.

Gotlands Yellow is definitely on my radar for my next los order (based on rave reviews from Soft Morning City). So is Skruf Stark, and an icetool (hopefully I can sneak that one by the wife...).

Indeed some of us (me, for one) do. It is my go-to lös. Skruf Stark runs a very close second in my stash, but there's something about the G. Yellow that stands out from the rest -- certainly its slight citrus taste, the semi-coarse granularity, even the way it yields little tidbits now and then, sort of like that occasional reminder you get on the way home from the ballpark of the peanuts you had in the 4th inning.

      Wonderful stuff.

Great description löser. Yeah, it's got some citrus, but unlike Onyx, where the citrus dominates, it plays a strictly supporting role, and stays in its place. Words such as slight or semi really capture the essence of this stuff. Nothing about it is too loud, which is why I can see it as a possible go-to snus.

Gotlands Yellow is definitely my go-to loose snus. It's one of those brands that I never get tired of and is one of only two brands of loose that I order in rolls, the other being Grov.

Now I'm just waiting on Jakobssons...

I like all of Gotlands snus' They're the company I identify with, and all of their products are favorites. When given a choice for only 1 snus to have, I picked Landströms, but I'm not sure about my choice. I may have to select Gotlands yellow. Every time I put a pris in, I'm overjoyed by the awesome flavor :^)

I also must admit, the fact that Gotlands is a small brand adds to it's appeal. I like supporting little businesses who craft a quality product. I'll be a customer for as long as they're around. Here's hoping that they stick around for a long time to come.

For all new users and first-time lösers, let me throw in a little advice: Zero's prismaking video won't help you much with the G. Yellow. This stuff will make you understand what "lös" really means. Due to the coarse features mentioned above, it does not pack well by hand, so get yourself a Prismaster or Icetool or a cutoff syringe before you reject it out of frustration. You will thank yourself later.

On the other hand (no pun intended), maybe I'm just manually challenged. Anyone else have any success with this stuff mano a mano?

(also a Jandek fan, by the way.)

I can bake the pris, and it's stable enough to hold with my thumb and index finger for insertion. What I CAN"T do is integrate all of the loose grains in my hand into the pris. When I knead it (for lack of a better term) some of it doesn't want to bond, and I'll ruin the pris if I persist in trying to get all of it. So I don't have a perfectly clean hand when I'm done. There's leftover.

So I tend to grab the Prismaster for this more than I do for Stark or Ettan, and, yeah, I agree that you'd be well-advised to get one of the pris baking tools for this snus.

My experience mirrors yours so it seems like there's some collateral loss to be expected from this stuff. I use a Prismaster to pack it down, then eject and work it by hand to get it to a manageable fit, but the 98% that packs into the pris is well worth the effort.

As a side note, I've got some G. Grey lös on order, so will report back if anyone is interested. A tin of G. Green portions sits untapped in my fridge as well, but I favor the lös stuff so it may go unopened for a while. I haven't seen that particular variety in a lös but based on my experience with Yellow (lös > portions, better by far) I am certainly interested to try that if it's available. Is G. Green offered lös online anywhere?

They don't make a green los. They say they've tried, but it just doesn't work.

I swear you folks are going to make my wife kill me, my loose order just arrived on Monday, I'd hate to see the look on her face if yet a third package of snus arrived in as many weeks.

"Yeah honey, I just had to try these other varieties, a bunch of people on the intarwebs said they were great!".
