Onico+ as alternative to energy drinks?

Background: College student, in engineering. Long hours at school, late nights of studying. I've tried the (yes i know, crappy) skoal smooth mint snus & it did nothing for me. I'm not a smoker & tried it quite on a whim. Left it in for a little over an hour, had a drink of water to moisten things up about halfway through. No interest in any more tobacco based snus since I didn't get any real effects from the nicotine (yeah, I was surprised too).

I'm wondering how the Onico+ stuff is as an alternative to my usual Mt Dew AMP energy drinks- does it actually wake you up a bit? Seems like it might be more convenient and cheaper than stopping at the store for an AMP every day. For what it's worth, the drink is listed as 160 mg caffeine, 248 mg guarana, 296 mg taurine, and 34 mg ginseng.

    Cheers
    Andrew

    Welcome to Snuson!

Actually the other day I was thinking to start gradually reducing the "nicotine Snus" and replace it with some non-nicotine snus such as Onico, Loonic No. 4 (it's nicotine free), KickUp, BaccOff, Choice, XQ and Sprilla .... I haven't tried any of these but I'd be looking into them just to lower my nicotine intake ...... (I'm a snuser and a dipper btw)

Good luck! If you're not addicted to nicotine ... stay free..... there's no point.... just sayin'

You're not really going to get any effects from Camel "SNUS" in the nicotine department, but like precious has said, if your not nicotine dependent don't start lol.
Energy snus is an interesting thing, I have a couple portions of some of the discontinued eLixer, but haven't tried them.
Give them a shot and see how they work for you, remember not to use a lot of them in a short period. It can and will have bad side effects.

Weak! Try NOS, monster nitrous, or venom black mamba.

            Thanks for the input, everyone.
Yep. I guess I was curious what the nicotine feeling my smoking friends claimed was so good was about. Happy to say I don't have any reason to agree, I imagine thats because I have no addiction to it.
Also need to rescind my previous statement. I did get an effect about 1 hr after I took it out. Felt generally lousy! Won't be trying another tobacco based one.

c.nash, I imagine the bad side effects are the same one would get if they were to drink too many energy drinks in a short time? Any others?

nicodude, I've found AMP to be about the right level that I can drink it instead of soda and be able to stay awake, but not be wired. I like that. Don't care much for the jitters & stuff that I've gotten with a couple others. I'd prefer to just pull myself a doubleshot of good espresso, but that's decidedly more feasible in my kitchen than the computer lab- and the cumberland farms is about 25 minutes closer than my kitchen!

It's too bad ordering the stuff is just as difficult as ordering tobacco based snus!

Don't even bother ordering if you are looking for a kick from the Onico+. The amount of caffeine (guarana) and ginseng are very low, and mainly there for the taste. It tastes a lot like Red Bull but gives no buzz from what I felt.

It contains 5 mg of caffeine per prilla; that's 125 mg from an entire can - equivalent of one cup of coffee, and 0,1 mg ginseng per prilla. Compare that to your energy drink.

              Drink some coffee instead!

Yeah, I have a crazy high caffeine tolerance, like my nic tolerance. I can drink a monster nitrous and fall asleep 2 hours later.
I wake up to a 5 hour energy and half a can of nos, finish the can later on, and have another 5 hour energy before work at night. Not to mention I have a guarana based caffeinated snuff that I use to. Google tiger guarana energy snuff...

Usually your first nic dose gives you one hell of a buzz/rush. Maybe you over did it by leaving it in too long and got the bad end of the effects from to high a dose with no tolerance.

In my experience, most of the mainstream energy drinks are just high priced caffeine. Taurine and ginseng have never done anything for me that I was able to feel. If you want caffeine drink strong coffee or buy caffeine tablets.

There are some lesser known energy drinks out there available from stores that sell fitness supplements that contain Methlheanamine (aka geranamine, DMAA, 1,3 dimethylamylamine). You can also buy it in capsule form. This stuff is so strong that it will probably be banned as soon a few too many people overdo it and end up in the emergency room. Any drink with 10-20mg or more of dimethylamylamine and a 100-200mg of caffiene will have you wired up pretty good for a few hours.

Thanks, guess it's not worth it!

I wasn't feeling anything while it was in, aside from the initial tingling. Didn't feel anything for the next hour or so either.

No worries, I'll be tossing the can out at some point without trying another. Cheap experiment at least.

The harmful effects of any caffeine based snus or dip is just like that of an energy but even worse for your teeth. At one time there was a chemical they were putting into these products that would quickly degrade teeth and gum tissue. That has since been resolved but it is still not completely gone.
