So that'll be a print out of your online order? and what is an ID copy?

      Great news by the way.

Yes, this saga will go on and on.

Enjoy the popcorn - they'll be banning that next!

          ID copy (Identity card)

and yes the Invoice from Northerner

these are the first two packages out of 6 (dip only)

1.4 KG of dip..... they won't charge the larger package since it's considered gift and I don't have invoice on it.

                Good work fizzog.

Interesting that he says "Swedish laws" when it's an EU ban, and the exception to the ban is an EU exception. Maybe he's mixing his words, or maybe it's flannel.

There is absolutely no reason I can see why the US cannot legally ship SM products to the EU. The only reason I can see is the message from Northerner that SM are being extra cautious due to being a Public company.

I never was great at international law, but various things seem clear to me.

                  (1) It's probable this is a reaction to the Finnish matter, which seems to be trying to redefine point of order [say, UK], not point of supply [Sweden], as the point of sale, so that supply from Sweden to UK or other EU places gets to fall under the EU Directive.

                  (2) Quite apart from that, Swedish Match is reacting to the possibility of being sued in some way - thus this ban from them will have come essentially from their insurers or lawyers or some such. They will not themselves like it (one can tell from the tone of Wredberg's reply), but they feel it necessary in order to preserve their position.

                  (3) National domestic customs laws are (at least as far as the UK is concerned) at sixes and sevens about exactly what snus is. It is probable that, in the UK at least, it does not attract duty.

                  (4) This one is going to run and run. I myself will be trying to source snus from Northerner in the US. My favourite is General Extra Sterk; but, quite apart from this ban, I am not going to reward Swedish Match for their pusillanimity by ordering from them again. I shall look at Skruf or Odens.

                  (5) Bloody interfering busybodies who won't let us get on with our lives!!!!!!!!!

                  (6) I could be wrong about any of this - apart from point 5!!

"Temporary or Permanent" will depend on the new EU directive..................that is your time line in this matter..................by the way when is it due for vote

SM is guarding both its established distribution line (don't want to see all your retailers hauled off to jail and put out of business) and..............

trying to keep the Finish ruling contained to Finland

No more sales = no more prosecution = no EU wide redefinition of the law = no adverse affecting of new policy

See pages 67-70 of this thread

                    Nice work fizzy!!!!

                      Sign the petition

Sign this petition to save our snus: http://eusnus.se/

This time i know its a repost, i think it might be a good idea to keep that link active once per site, if you agree. i stumbled upon this thread through google, and since snus can last some time and some people still just finding out whats going on, i guess that some dozens of people still find this thread every day. and since nobody wants to read the whole thread, and rather look at the first page and also likely the last, this could boost the petition signing.

Edit: added it to my signature so this will work as well if i post from time to time (more subtle and less annoying ) Guess that will be visible next time i post.

Tell me when im bothering you with that, until then i will post the link from time to time.

Also my order seems to have been shipped today from odenssnus.com:
"thank you! We are shipping your order today."
will keep you up to date with that order.

Yes, I think there's something in that. A Finnish ruling is hardly likely to form a binding precedent in other EU countries. But it might, if tested, be found persuasive in other EU jurisdictions. The thinking will be: best not to take the risk; best to let this sort itself out at a pan-EU level; best to pull out of EU sales until this becomes less murky.

But what a pain for the rest of us!

I have been following this thread for a while now and decided to register and do a few comments.

It seems like we are all following our tails. Until one of the big guys decide to tell us like it is, we will continue speculating.
I have read from the first page and seriously believe we need to stand together on this one.

                              You can say that again.
I couldn't believe it when GN came on the forum - I thought somebody was winding us up.
