Get to know some officials on a personal basis in your EU country. Is it still acceptable for flyers to bring it in on cargo or carry-on?

Old thread. Any update to this story? I'm from Norway and Canada, neither part of the EU, so it doesn't affect me. Though I read,

Norway had banned Red Bull energy drinks due to their high caffeine content (twice the legal amount, coffee's exempt). While not a part of the EU, Norway has signed a free trade deal with the EU. Through this, the EU forced Norway to sell Red Bull and other products containing more than the legal caffeine limit. The EU ban on snus is obviously hypocritical. The EU health minister resigned after trying to arrange bribes with tobacco manufacturers over snus specifically. Ought to be skeptical of any politicians lobbying for harder rules on snus.
