    This was my thinking too.

But the fact the guy told Frosted it's a new thing since January 2011 makes me worried.

I'm going to ring myself, but whilst I can get away with posting here at work, I can't risk calling customs and having people overhear me.

Please do mate. I'll be waiting - I hope we're wrong.

Customs are a shower of sh**e. The customs laws are so complicated I wouldn't be surprised they didn't know what they were talking about.

            Eh, Swedish sounds easy.

"I just said that you should send a PM to "Team SnusOn" with the request to change your "Junior Snuser" title."

Hmm, maybe I should consider moving there...

Yeah, which also shows how stringent they're being about it (not), and could also indicate a breakdown in communication at HMRC.

The worst thing about all this is that we're getting mixed messages from everywhere, including the bloody people who are supposed to know the law (HMRC)

I'm pretty sure both sales and important are blocked towards the EU.

That's the new law. And no one is able to receive anything either......

I should have asked how much you're allowed to bring back in the E.U if you would go on a trip. (forgot though)

Frosted................I noticed in the conversation they said you must have a Tax ID # (that is a merchant's number for the purpose of resale). That leads me to think the person you were talking to had conflated two issues.

January is when they update new laws, regulations, and operating proceedures for that year

Keep in mind when I was researching during PACT I had to talk to the Director of SC before I could get a definitive answer (or have someone who even understood my question)

Regardless, I go back to this

A change in custom policy requires a change in law

That law will not be a secret directive issued only to custom officers but will be publicly announced to merchants and made part of public record

Where is this law (all I have heard about is an SM directive and a Finish court case)

If things have changed........................they will be able to cite the basis of the change and refer you to its source.

If the person you are speaking with cannot do this................you are speaking to the wrong person.................time to move up a rung or two in the chain of command
When it's my time to go, I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my uncle did....... Not screaming in terror like his passengers

Snus has been banned throughout the European Union since 1992.

It is authorised only in Sweden, where it is so much part of the national culture that the country negotiated an exemption from the ban when it joined the union.

I'm starting to think that it was never LEGAL to buy snus online or have someone shipping it to you.

                                Snusdog - you're possibly right.

Customs have hopefully completely misunderstood both precious and myself. To be honest, I don't have a clue HOW they've misunderstood as I was quite clear.
                                More people please phone.
                                I'll have another go tomorrow.
