I wonder on what basis they won the case.

My guess is that it WAS NOT a health basis but rather because the company violated some shipping ban.

That may be important for future rulings.............in that if they ruled that snus caused cancer the implications will be far greater for the rest of us than if they simmply determined that company X violated Finland's import laws.

Thanks for the offer. First, lets hope this can all be straightened out and our EU freinds can get their own.

if it doesn't pan out it would actually be easier for me if I order 1 time a month and I already know who it goes to. I have to keep a record of details tho. The biggest problem is that I get a ton of PMs with the auctions and I'm forever deleting non-pertinate PMs in my inbox. I have my cost figured out now and the couple of people I quoted are happy with the price. The cost can only go down as things get moving and I see how everything goes. So all is cool for now........untill our government does something stupid........again


btw, compareing prices from buysnus and northerner the cost are still about the same, total cost is within 1 dollar on an order of a few rolls. I guess thats just the way it works out with the shipping and taxes etc.

I knew finland was a sucky country, it's kind of a shame they didn't get overrun by the russians in WWII if they ever finally got free they wouldn't worry about stupid crap like banning smokeless tobacco. My conviction now is that the EU is beyond worthless and detrimental to every country involved in it in a multitude of ways forcing germany to subsidize countries like France, portugal, spain, and greece that otherwise would have been forced to reform and get their act together.

Edit: Oh on a positive note I recommend giving lilbrown.com a try, I think the shipping might be more reasonable they've got the general line so if you don't like general white that sucks. The orders can be pretty small too.

I'm not from finland but it seems sucky their GDP is the lowest of scandinavian countries, they have the highest suicide rate, high rates of alcoholism, and other issues. It's always surprising how much they worry about snus. I don't know I'm sure there're nice parts of living in finland they have a fairly good education system etc., I wonder I think a lot of the troops that fought the soviets were loggers who usually use snus because of the not starting a forest fire thing, I wonder how they'd feel that it's banned in their country.

My mom moved from Finland to the US when she was 18. Never asked her why really. She is proud of her heritage though.

Finland's not quite Scandinavian from what I've gathered, but I don't live over there, so it's hard to say. I don't have a problem with the Finns. They kicked some serious Soviet ass back in the day, starting at a distinct disadvantage.

I'd focus my ire on the EU, and nanny statism in general. There's hardly a developed country in the world where the same thing wouldn't have happened, and it was only by accident it came through Finland. Power has slowly been eroded on the personal level, through the regional states, to the countries, and it won't stop until the elite few hold all the power. Sounds like the USSR to me. Europe has had a head start, but if we don't pay attention over here, we'll have the same thing in this hemisphere. It'll only stop when there's 1 world power, and we're all subjects of the state.

I've looked at prices of travelling to Sweden from the UK - unfortunately it's not an option.
