I might just put a small order in with Northerner this evening - 4 cans to see if it goes through. If not it's no big financial loss.
I already have a decent order shipped from Northerner (mostly dip) around 1.8 kg of dip

and I just made another order of 4 tins of snus just to see if they pass through.

Now I wonder if dip is in the same boat as snus.

So here is the deal, sure I can order Snus from Northerners American warehouse and get my staple of General, Ettan and Grov. but what about lLucky Strike. Also 2 in 10 of my orders from America get caught by Customs and i pay extra duty.

I can fly with Easy Jet to Göteborg or Stockholm from Gatwick for about £100 return. If I come back with 20 rolls or more, then each can has cost me less than £1 shipping. So looks like I will be doing a Snus run every 3 months. I think it will be good in that I dont travel that often and I could have lunch at the Tobacco Museum.

            sounds great

the question is..... how would you get past the customs in the airport with 20 rolls on you?

not very safe, I'd say :^)

For it to work out at the same delivery price I'm paying now I'd have to buy 13 rolls if I fly. Unfortunately I've nowhere to put 13 rolls.

On the other hand - if 2 out of 10 rolls get stopped from the US I'll be saving £20 per roll of snus so that's £160 tax I'm not paying. What did customs charge you?

Of course he does. I've said it numerous times, but tobacco people are the the best people :^)

the only risk with 30 rolls of snus going through Gatwick is to get screwed by the customs to pay taxes........

15kg of tobacco would be approx. £2000 in taxes.............lol

My last American order from the northerner was about $65 and I paid about £15 duty on that.

oh have seen those shows where kids get busted coming back from Columbia with kilos of cocaine strapped to the body, I am sure something could be worked out for snus

If you purchase tobacco within the EU I have already paid duty on it. So bringing back to another EU country should not incur any extra duty. Customs will jump on you if you try bring back 'duty free' tobacco.

That really isn't bad at all - and that's not declared?
If that's the case I'll not worry.

Did they send it on to you after payment?

You dont declare it. with international mail the seller sticks a customs sticker on the package with the total cost of the goods, if this is spotted in the sorting office, the post office calculate the duty. then you go collect your package from the local post office and you pay the duty over the counter.

with UPS and Fedex they pay the duty on your behalf so there is no hold up in the delivery time and an invoice follows a week or 2 later.

The EU parliament are stupid because less duty will be generated for them if we order everything from America. Also when governments prohibit things soon enough a black market will rise. (cough cough)

Power to the peeeeephoooole!!!! Take a van to Sweden - fill it up and stick it in your house (not the van). Sell it. Sorted.
It really is daft - Now you've given me that epiphany I might just order from the US from now on - I could save myself a fortune.
