I've never tried Oden's snus, none of them. It seems I'm going to... I'm already registered and filling the cart. Just for my own amusement..
If you need any help to do some translations to portuguese or spanish or even french say something. That might get useful (I guess) to all EU snusers out there.

Okay, I'll stop lurking (reading these posts is hilarious!) and come out to say GN seems to have a great concept with the new website--being able to choose your flavor and snus strength combination for the Oden's products is pretty awesome. If you guys start shipping to the US, consider me sold on the extreme kanel portions...I can't wait to try them! Keep up the good work over there guys!

Just got a response from Swedish Match, which does preplex me a bit.

Dear Mr ****,

To Swedish Match’s knowledge a number of internet retailers have recently chosen to review their Internet sales of snus to countries within the European union. This is in turn a consequence of the export ban of Swedish snus as stipulated in the Tobacco Directive 2001/37/EG.

Swedish Match does not offer any Internet retailing, does not condole unlawful commercial distance retailing and can only state that the current development is an unfortunate result of EU legislation that raises understandable questions amongst snus users living outside Sweden. It is not up to manufacturers of Swedish snus such as Swedish Match to question or challenge the current Internet restrictions or other legislative measures currently being reviewed by the Commission pending the new Tobacco Directive currently being drafted.

Now, I was under the impression that SM had given clear instructions to web-shops like Northerner that they were not to sell SM products to EU countries anymore, yet this mail makes it sound like that decision originated from the web-shops themselves. I'm personally more inclined to believe Northerner when they say that they are no longer ALLOWED to sell SM snus to the EU, so what's going on here? It seems more and more that SM knows something we don't.

Hmmm, yes that is a head scratcher. With regard the internet retailers I guess they were given, 'a choice,' formally at least.

The only meaning I can derive from the second paragraph is that SM are holding their breath, waiting to see the outcome of the TPD review and distancing themselves from the process for now. They were in the past more active with regard legal challenge but now this is a legislative question, it would be inappropriate for them be publicly active.

"Unfortunate legislation, understandable questions." I guess this is quite strong language in political speak. My translation; regrettable and inappropriate legislation, an issue for further consideration and review given natural and reasonable doubts. They also indicate that it is not for them to challenge, so it is up to us.

At least they replied. I do find SM to be tiresome in their bureaucratic posturing though. I wonder, given their financial clout, whether they might be more able to support, indirectly if necessary, campaigners wishing to generate positive publicity for snus. I have no doubt they are in fact doing this but some braver choices of advocates might be useful in this time.

That said, I echo Mordred's sentiment that SM seem to know something we don't. Whether they are able to use this knowledge wisely is another matter.

I got a message when I tried to proceed through checkout asking me to remove any tobacco products from by basket before I could proceed any further because my country was only allowed to buy tobacco/nicotine free products.
