              Not been on here for a while, but this is pretty good news to come back to.

              I can't see us being able to buy snus in UK shops any time soon, though. There are a lot of powerful lobby groups, like ASH, who are vehemently opposed to introducing new tobacco products into the UK market.

              I emailed ASH a little while ago asking for their opinions on snus and they flat out said they would be lobbying against any suggestions to legalise it in the UK, regardless of the health benefits over cigarettes. The f**kwits.

                Hopefully it's legal, that said I'm not sure how available it will be I can get snus 1 mile from my house for 7.99 a can and did earlier today, but 7-11 or a grocery store no way. It would be nice if U.S. smokeless made something decent that I could buy basically anywhere, and better if Swedish match decided to spend some money and promote snus more widely, I mean come on it's the product they need they sell T-wolf (discount) longhorn (sub-discount) dip so it seems like a premium product that could compete with copenhagen would be good (It would also be nice if they didn't charge a 4.50 base price since a lot of states ST is taxed as a percent of that price maybe introduce something like kaliber for 2-3 bucks).

                  Marin Dockrell from ASH, the head honcho, is a grade A w****r.

                    Clive Bates who was the head honcho at ASH before Martin Dockrell seems to be pro smokeless tobacco as a harm reduction measure:

                      That's what prompted to email ASH about snus, because I found an old reference to them being pro-smokeless. Seems like the official line has changed. The reply I got simply trotted out the old chestnut: "We don't advocate introducing any new tobacco products to the market"

                      Whatever, really. As long as I can buy it on the internet I'll be happy enough. If I can start getting my favourite SM brands again, even better.

                      I've been starting to think about quitting tobacco altogether again, but it's bloody hard when snus doesn't give me any good reason to - I'm not coughing, wheezing, feeling run-down, etc, etc.

                        (^O^) thank you!
                        I'm Alex Neko (nickname on facebook)

                        I'm glad if I helped you all a little, The EU directive doesn't ban the Svedish Snus, but only the tobacco that looks like a food product in portion, but not the tobacco to chew.

                        So SNUS doesn't look like a Banana or hamburger, But it's important that HAVE TO BE CHEWED!!
                        So there is not problem (if I buy snus and I intend to chew a little, (or smoke, but snus is full of water, difficult)!
                        Also: I could use not for oral use, i could put in the nose or I could use as a facial cream to eliminate wrinkle.
                        I red the directive, i cannot read that "Svedish" or "Snus" is banned.

                        This is the law:

                        Directive 89/622/EEC is hereby amended as follows:
                        (1)tobacco products means products for the purpose of smoking, sniffing, sucking or chewing, inasmuch as they are, even partly, made of tobacco;

                        COUNCIL DIRECTIVE 92/41/EEC of 15 May 1992 amending Directive 89/622/EEC Saya:
                        1. The following shall be added to the title and to Article 1:
                        'and the prohibition of the marketing of certain types of tobacco for oral use.'
                        2. The following point shall be added to Article 2:
                        '4. "Tobacco for oral use", for the purposes of Article 8a, means all products for oral use, except those intended to be smoked or chewed, made wholly or partly of tobacco, in powder or particulate form or in any combination of these forms - particularly those presented in sachet portions or porous sachets - or in a form resembling a food product.'

                        Directive 2001/37/EC
                        28) Directive 89/622/EEC prohibited the sale in the Member States of certain types of tobacco for oral use. Article 151 of the Act of Accession of Austria, Finland and Sweden grants the Kingdom of Sweden a derogation from the provisions of that Directive in this regard.
                        4. "tobacco for oral use" means all products for oral use, except those intended to be smoked or chewed, made wholly or partly of tobacco, in powder or in particulate form or in any combination of those forms, particularly those presented in sachet portions or porous sachets, or in a form resembling a food product;
                        Article 8
                        Tobacco for oral use
                        Member States shall prohibit the placing on the market of tobacco for oral use, without prejudice to Article 151 of the Act of Accession of Austria, Finland and Sweden.
                        Article 151 say:
                        The provisions of the Directive shall, for the purposes of the present Agreement, be read with the following adaptations:
                        (a) The prohibition in Article 8 of Directive 89/622/EEC as amended by Directive 92/41/EEC shall not apply to the placing on the market in Iceland, Norway and Sweden of the product defined in Article 2.4 of Directive 89/622/EEC, as amended by Directive 92/41/EEC. However, this derogation shall not apply to the prohibition of sales of "snus" in forms resembling food products. Furthermore, Iceland, Norway and Sweden shall apply an export ban on the product defined in Article 2.4 of Directive 89/622EEC, as amended by Directive 92/41/EEC, to all other Contracting Parties to the present Agreement.

                        Again I don't think that "snus" is like a Banana or Apple.

                        Here with me I have a Oden's can extreme loose: it's not "snus"It isn't write snus anywhere, it's not like sandwitch, I will chew a little but I'm not intend to eat, because doesn't look like banana.

                        So I am a proud EUROPEAN following all the "strange" rule of the Europe!
                        (But EU want we smoke tobacco to have more cancer, so Hospital and pharma can receive a lot of money from out taxes)
