Which Snus has the smallest amount of salt?

As I'm a pretty new snuser, I still have problems with my gums when leaving it in for longer time. I think, it is due to the high salt content, which causes some lip swelling, especially when I use loose...

So I'm looking for a brand with a rather low salt content. I prefer the ones with tobacco flavor like Ettan and Grov. What do the more experienced users recommend?

I think the majority of snus contains about 3-5% salt. My guess is that it is just your gums getting used to the snus being there. My upper lip got near painful at times when I started. Just vary where you place the pris/portion and be sure to brush your teeth/gums regularly along with a good mouthwash. The irritation subsided completely for me after about 1.5-2 weeks.

      gums turning red

thats good to know. My gums were getting red so i started moving the portion more. Even down to the lower lip. I am really hoping it will subside because I love snusing.

Yeah, it does get uncomfortable at first. It will go away after a bit.

Hm, then my gums seem to be a little more resistant to change than your's
I'm snusing now for about 4 weeks, regularly. As I was a heavy smoker, I have almost always a Snus in. The lip burnig went away after about one week, unfortunately the irritation is still there. I'm changing locations regularly but in the evening there is no location at the upper lip left, where there isn't an irritation. Grovsnus portions seems to be the mildest Snus, with Ettan my lip is swollen heavily, General Onyx seems to be somwhere in the middle. Unfortunately, loose seems to be the most 'corrosive', very sad as I like it very much. Anyway, I keep on snusing, hoping that it will become better over time. I've just thought it would be easier to adjust with a less salty one.
What doesn't kill instantly, just makes tougher... 8)

            salt

Hi Zeno....I just started snusing about two weeks ago to help me quit smoking. My first order was all portion or white portion....I got lucky strike, grovsnus, tre ankare, ettan and general. I really like tre ankare...very mild and seems less salty. I like the grovsnus as well. Not too crazy about lucky strike or general...just don't like the flavors. Ettan is growing on me. I've noticed there is a point where the flavor weakens and the salt really kicks in. I started taking them out quicker. At first I had them in for 90min or so. Now I pull them out after about 40 min. That has helped with the salt issue. The swelling on the other hand....well I've never dipped in my life so I figure my mouth is just adjusting to something new. Also...I sip plain old water all day to help flush my mouth out...that has helped as well.

I splurged and bought a sonicare toothbrush and a good mouthwash....that also has helped. I brush two to three times a day using snus. My dentist should finally be happy....lol. Take care.

+1. Although the Wise does nothing for me flavor-wise, the 6mg white portion delivers a very efficient nicotine hit, and is easy on the gums. (It's kind of like a lozenge in a pouch.) Since you're a former heavy smoker (as am I) you may want to consider having these around if you're getting irritation from the good stuff. You could use far less of your favorite lös by using the Wise in between pris.

That was a good thought, hoffman.
