    Snus or Nicotine gum??

What is the difference health wise? I'm quitting smoking for the third time and don't want to deal with as many withdrawal symptoms as possible. There is to much stress and other things going on right now that I am almost reluctant to try quitting yet again.

But snus has helped me before and I figure it will help me again. Can anyone give their inputs on nicotine gum and snus and maybe some pros and cons.

Money is def tight right now and both seem more or just as expensive as smoking(I only smoke 8 cigarettes a day usually) Since PACT even snus is so expensive. What direction should I go with replacing my cigarettes?

    Thanks!

Speaking money wise, nicotine is more expensive than snus and
cigarettes put together. You've got to chew quit a few pieces of
gum a day and a single piece (at least in Romania) is $1, more
    expensive than snus.

If you're talking health wise, believe me I've seen articles saying
that nicotine gum can lead to cancer and snus as well.

Bottom line is, snus is the cheapest, less harmful and the most effective.
I am one of the many people here that quit with snus.

    Hope that helps.

You need 2 mg Nicorette Gum, that's $45 for 110 pieces.
(those should last you a bit more than a week) .. and you'd
spend on average $120 a month with gum, snus would cost
you a lot less, you can buy around 3 rolls of Ettan loose with
this kind of money if you're in USA.

Also, be aware that gum is just as addictive as snus.

Are you trying to quit nicotine or just quit smoking. Do you plan to keep using snus/gum?

have you considered the nicoderm patch? my mom quit with this method. a 2-week box can be had at walmart for about $30. since you are a light smoker.. might only take 4 weeks.

if snus has worked before why don't you give
          snus a try?

I'm telling you both the nicotine gum and the
patches are annoying as hell. The patches have
me a nasty skin rash and the gum literally
paralyzes your throat and sting the tongue.
I couldn't tolerate any of them, probably the
          worst forms of nicotine.

Consider snuff as well to quit smoking, my first
aid has been snuff, and quit it later for snus.

I keep an emergency box of nicorette on hand just incase. Its ok, not great but not aweful, the fruit chill is not bad but too sweet. I liked the uncoated mint flavor target brand the best.

cinnamon is pretty tasty, but just like I said I can't gut nicotine
gum at all. It stings the tongue and paralyzes my throat lol

Thanks for the replies. Well Walmart here has a clearance Equate 4mg fruit flavor 100 pc box for around $20.77 which 5 pieces for roughly a dollar and I'm guessing it will only last me about 1-2 weeks. I get my cigarettes from overseas for about 2 bucks a pack. It's just the shipping price for snus scares the hell out of me. $20-$30 for shipping alone wow I don't know.

And I plan on quitting or at least sticking to mostly snus. I used to be a pack a day smoker for about 2-3 years(I'm only 21) and now I smoke only half a pack or less a day and that is because I work out a lot and I can never smoke right after a workout for some reason. I actually have quit before with snus but it wasn't easy for me.

Anyway... who has the cheapest prices for USA to buy snus online???

Edit: Oh and no nicotine patch for me I've had a bad experience as well and it itches and annoys me.

You can get 4mg gum here Ansel (Nicorette, Nicotinel?sp) I could never get on with it though as it gave me stomach ache/cramps.

northerner.com has free shipping on orders of $100 for a couple more days I think.

I'd have to have 2 pieces at a time just to get the strength of a regular (not stark) portion. Doesn't appeal to me at the moment.

I have tried nicotine gum before and it doesn't work. It kind of takes the edge off but you still feel like something is missing. I still craved a real cigarette the whole time I used nicotine gum and went right back to smoking. With snus, you are replacing cigarettes with something even better. It definitely will take the edge off, there are many flavors and it is kind of fun to use. Once you get used to it, you will prefer it over cigarettes which will never happen with the gum. Health wise it probably depends on what snus you use. My guess is Northerner snus would be the safest but I am not an expert on this. I can tell you that snus is far more effective than any other NRT I have seen or used.

Vegan when you say northerner snus is safest do you mean just Swedish snus in general is safer then American snus which is completely different thing I've heard. As far as ingredients and whatnot?

If I remember right American snus gave me a uncomfortable feeling in my mouth like something was not right. Swedish snus never did that.

ANd thanks randall I will look into northerners deal.

The way I see it, snuscraft is an art form, and pharmaceutical nicotine is an industrial money grab. I'd just smoke before using nicotine gum.
