General OP / Ettan OP are too bitter

I've been having General Orginal Portion and Ettan OP for the past couple of days..... (like 4 portions a day) ....

I am still a loose fan but thougt I'd switch to portions a while until my dip order arrives.............

But I find these two Ettan and General very bitter now....... yesterday I even pulled two portions out because I couldn't tolerate the bitter taste.

    Did anyone go through this?

    Loose isn't bitter at all.

Like I said in the other post, I've found that General is starting to get like this for me... I know Nick & Johnny did this for me back when I first started snusing, went through half a can loving it, then the next few portions I could not stand. The entire general line, aside from Onyx and GES loose somewhat, is really starting to get like this for me though... almost as if it is getting too spicy/salty for what I could only assume are my changing tastes.

Ettan on the other hand is a different story... started out bland, gave it time, and now I love it. No idea why Ettan is going bad on you.

    Stop dippin' and start snusin'!

Portioned snus, especially Original Portions, are more bitter than their Los counterparts. Lossnus is far less bitter, since it contains fewer pH adjusters and is grinded less fine than the tobacco contained within portions.

From my own experience, White Portions taste more comparable to Los varieties, since the portion material is not drenched in water during the manufacturing process -- this process often fosters a caustic, bitter flavor. Nevertheless, lossnus still delivers the least bitter flavor.

it's funny because Ettan has become bitter (like hell) and I'm not dipping for 10 days I think
The same problem I've had with Skruf Portions ..... that are just disgusting - the bitterly lemon is making me sick ....... I love the loose though ........ It's my #1 favorite. (xtra xtark loose)

Portioned snus delivers a distinctive bitterness absent from lossnus. My advice: try white portions, and if they don't work, stick with los exclusively.

I was actually just looking at some of the ingredients on SM's website, interestingly enough Ettan los has 5% salt while the portions contain 2% I believe, in any of there loose snus the los had much more salt.

I'd have to agree though, maybe try some white portions, I've been growing fond of those lately. I'm sure the grind has something to do with it to... which would also explain why, at least in my experience, portions hit a bit faster than los... although that is just my personal experience, probably also related to the way I bake a pris.

What is with the odd dip obsession anyway? Obviously they don't sell it there in Romania, at least American dip, which means someone had to send it to you... which also means that you most likely requested it... I don't know about you but snus just seems to beat dip in every aspect, aside from the dubious amount of chemicals/sweeteners they put in dip. Even so, Gotlands makes some pretty sweet snus...

I've been alternating Gen OP and Ettan OP daily for the last couple of weeks, and don't find any bitterness at all. Then, I rarely use los.

I dunno, they're 2 of my favourite snus, if I was finding them bitter I doubt they'd have made it to favourite status.

Because I haven't tainted my palate with overly and artificially sweetened dip, probably ;-)

What can I say? I guess I like bitter tastes. I like dark chocolate, I like black coffee with no sugar. I like my snus to taste like snus.

                        Ain't that the truth!!

I have noticed that if I eat or drink anything that's sweet,
some snus are bitter early on and become 'spittable'.

I've never had dip but understand flavored dip is the
                        closest thing to chewing gum.

dip is pretty sweet (the flavored one) It's very close to sucking on a sugar cane.......especially skoal and grizzly.

The natural tobacco ones aren't sweet but definitely sweeter than SNUS.

The thing is that I haven't dipped for 10 - 12 days and just threw in a pinch early of Skoal Mint

and still the snus was very bitter......... and I think it's from the large quantities of chocolate that I've been eating lol

That hasn't happened to me. I have an open can of General OP now. (first one in a very long time!) I'm really digging it. I usually go for General White, but OP is good too.
