    Red wine and snus bad?

I'm trying some Gellivare snus for the first time, and it seems kinda flavorless. Is it the snus or is the sweet red wine I'm having with it thats interfering? Just wondering. Maybe it's that I have been using strong snus too much, Extra Sterks and all. Thoughts?

I always try new snus with water just to getthe full flavor. The wine is killing tue flavor....the sweetness and acidity of the wine cuts through the flavor of the snus....the snus has no chance.

I could see a bitter, natural snus complimenting a glass of Merlot, like Grov, General, or Ettan. I'm a beer and liquor kind of guy, so my experience with wine is insufficient.

Ahhh ok thanks for the imput. I really wasn't thinking. I honestly wanted some wine cause my day was rough from the start, mentally, so I wanted to relax. I need to apoligize to myself for not letting the first "kiss" with this snus be what it needed to be. Ahhh regrets. Well, tomorrow I'll know the difference. Thanks guys. Never thought of wine's acid interfering with the snus.

I was sipping a glass of Merlot the other night, and without thinking too much about it, popped in a portion of Thunder Berry Blend. Surprisingly, it was a very nice combination.

I never liked snus with wine apart from the julesnus with Red Wine... goes pretty damn well.

I actually don't like to drink anything with snus apart from tea...

The problem was "sweet" red wine. Get a proper dry red like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Meritage, Shiraz, or even a softer Pinot Noir. All scrumptious with a pris of GES. Something about the tannins and the salt content of lossnus make it a great combo.

Good call for Ges....the added flavor of the sterk tobacco plus the general flavor profile lends itself to balancing with red wine. It has the smoke and pepper to help it carry through the wine.

The Gellivare is rather delicate and relies on the flavor of the tobacco so it was getting washed out. It is a rather plain snus.

Plain snus will succumb to being washed out by strong flavors in general....especially something that can dominate the palate like red wine can.

I bet a nice not too oaky Chardonnay would go with Gellivare really well.

I'm getting sensory overload just thinking about this combination... then again wine doesn't agree with me to begin with. Beer is best with snus.
