Out of the brands that American companies are marketing now, I think Triumph has it locked. Sweet, but not terribly so, and no hint of aspartame. The mint has a mild spearmint flavor, original has sort of a mild tobacco and fruit flavor. This is the one I would go to in a pinch.

Well Triumph wins the award for a moist snus that stay fresh forever. I opened a tin almost 3 weeks ago and never put it in the fridge and this stuff is as moist as the day I opend the tin. Seriously. I love this stuff!!

Well, I was told today by a customer that Triumph has made it to Savannah. He said he has seen it at several stores and thought of me.

I guess this means I am going to have to go buy a tin of each just to say that I've tried it.

          OK,

I made my rounds. The first store had just received their display today but had no snus. The second store looked at me like I had two heads so I just kept on moving. The third store looked at me like I was nuts, but then he remembered what I was talking about and pulled out a can of original and a can of mint. Total cost for both cans: $7.05

First off, It hasnt been refridgerated. The display just leaves the cans out at room temp. The main difference, though, is that the label creates a 100% air-tight seal (unlike the perforated seal on other cans).

The can is identical to the General Onyx can (with different labels ofcourse), and the portions are arranged in the same spiral pattern as Onyx. This is the Only US Branded snus that comes as a normal Swedish brand would: 24 Original portions. None of that foo-foo 15-20 mini white dry portion crap.

Now, I opened both cans just to get a nice sniff. The mint smells absolutely tasty, and the original had a very unique odor to it. Nothing like anythiong I have smelled before.

Winner: Original gets the first taste.

I went with two portions to satiate my nicotine cravings that I cure with a nice pris from my icetool. The taste is just as unique as the smell. It has a very, VERY light tobacco undertone. The key flavor agents I am picking up on are some sort of floral aroma coupled with a rather distinct peach flavor. Sweet, but not Camel sweet. More like ripe peach sweet. I have had the two portions in a good 15-20 mins now and I can tell that these are by far on the higher end of nicotine delivery. On par with Onyx I'd say. Not a freight train to the brain, but definately a fast pick-me-up into a steady roll.

Summary: Triumph Original is as good as any other Swedish Match product I have had in terms of flavor, packaging, and nicotine delivery. If this test market continues to spread the way it has been, we will see many more people saying screw camel and have a true Swedish snus within minutes from home.

I am going to mellow out with these portions for a while, and If I get to it, I'll give the mint a go tonight and post my thoughts.

Good review on the original Xobeloot, I got something I can compare it to. I have not found any in the Atlanta area as of today. I stop by two different Texaco gas stations every week. They have the signs up, but always say, “Not in yet”. This Monday one of the cashiers told me, “We have to check at Sam’s to see if it came, if they have, then we get”. WTF!!! If that’s the case, I have a Sam’s membership. Why am I standing here listening to this BS week after week? I will check out Sam’s this weekend and see. I think he is full of $h**, but hey you never know! Which store did you get your purchase at? Looking for your review of the mint.

I really cannot get over how much this stuff tastes like peach. How they came up with this flavoring for an "Original" is beyond me. I always associate Original with a nice full tobacco taste, not flowery peach. Nonetheless, I have gone through 4 portions already and am now using #5-6. If Swedish Match would make this flavor in a Los form I think I would be in heaven.

I’m like you; I like sweet, but not sickening sweet. Camel was my portal to the real stuff, so I’m grateful for that. I do like peach flavor. Now I can’t wait till tomorrow to pickup a tin!!!

I agree that original, in definition, was full tobacco flavor.

Round Two: The mint is almost identical to the Original as far as having the peach-like sweetness. The mint has a a bit more of a tobacco flavor as an undertone. Not a bold tobacco, but a mellow undertone. The mint is not overpowering, More like a typical Swedish Match flavor note. Not too shabby.

Overall opinion of Triumph: A very nice original portion snus by Swedish Match. Definately catered to the American tastebud, but not in a way that will make the product foreign to the "non-test-market" snus consumer. This product can/will appeal to both new snus users and seasoned veterans alike.

I live in LaGrange, GA and just got a can a triumph snus. I have chosen to start with portion as i am knew to using snus. I have ordered 4 cans of General Onyx portion but bought this to last til it got here.

The flavor lasts quite awhile although i would like the flavor to be a little stronger. It is a sweet tobacco taste kinda like american chewing tobacco.

I am asking my wife for an Icetool and icetool loose snus case as well. After i finish my general onyx portions i will be trying los snus out.

Trust me, going from Triumph to Onyx, you are in for a whole different experience in the world of flavor. Not in a bad way, but definately a whole new playing field.

I purchased the original and mint today. Found them at a Shell station closer to me than the Shell on Pat Mell road (thanks to Xobeloot on pointing me in the right direction) and the store clerk knew what I was asking for!! Here’s is my review:

                              Original:

I did detect a hint of peach flavor, very enjoyable, kind of reminded me of Beechnut chew as far as taste. Very good on the nic delivery, not like getting hit over the head with a brick, but a slow steady flow.

                              Mint:

I also did pick up just a smidgen of peach and tobacco flavor, but the mint was not overpowering and was enjoyable The taste was a light spearmint taste. The smell upon opening was pleasant. Same for the nic delivery as the Original. Frost was my second flavor of choice in the Camel snus line. In my opinion Triumph Mint is MUCH better!!!

                              Overall:

The portions are moist and larger than Camel’s, more normal size and are packed in a spiral. The tins have an ash try for disposing of used portions. This is the longest lasting flavor of snus I have experienced thus far. Had a portion in for about two hours, still had good flavor. Swedish Match has got a winner with this line and it is now in my list of favorites. I now got something available in case my orders from Sweden get delayed. As far as other flavors I would like to see them produce, cinnamon and a maybe a tropical flavor. I do like flavor, but nothing that is overpowering. As far as a favorite flavor, I like both
