    Dear R.J. Reynolds

With Swedish Match currently test marketing General Snus throughout the United States, your company needs to release a product that can compete with its quality and flavor. In matter of fact, you don't even need to manufacture the snus itself! Simply make a contract with JTI to sell their version of Camel Snus within the American market -- similarly, Lorillard paid Swedish Match to manufacture Triumph Snus a few years ago.

Could you imagine having these two cans stocked on gas station shelves?

It would be a dream come true, albeit the warning labels would take away from its aesthetics.

Holy crap BAT "helped" reynolds with the camel snus, if they know how to make lucky strike and bla then why the hell are they producing crap and not something decent, I seriously don't understand why they're afraid to have a snus with a tobacco flavor.

I smoked Camels for years and would love to use a real snus of it's namesake.

But yes, your being too logical. LOL

I did also and fully agree. What is produced in the US these days is not fit to have the Camel name attached.

Persoally I would hate to see RJR achieve any iota of success and respect in the world of snus. Those guys can suck each others' dicks. There are enough Swedish and Danish outfits doing it right for there to be any sympathy or encouragement or support necessay for Reynolds, which informs the majority of my conviction to never sample their artificial, frosty little bung nuggets of snus.

I'm with you Roo, and I'll take it a little farther, and weed Swedish Match from the mix also. There's too many smaller makers that are responsive to their customers to give these behemoths more money to restrict snus, and release substandard products.

I smoked Camel Lights for 10 years, up until the "packaging change" - remember that one? I go to the gas station one day, and the cigarette packs looked different. Not a problem, I guess. Sure, the original packaging was good enough for my grandad and my dad, so it should be plenty good for me. But no big deal...who am I to stand in the way of progress.

So I buy a carton, crack open a pack...AND THEY TASTE DIFFERENT! I know I'm not the only one who noticed it. The taste had gone from smooth and wonderful to straight up horrible in the blink of an eye. It was bad enough to force me to spend the last 2-3 years smoking Marlboro, and missing my Camels.

So I'm with you, Roo...screw these guys. I don't want to buy anything that puts a dime in their pocket.

And yeah, I'm still a little bitter.

The Camel brand was diluted once they started putting filters on them!

This is what a pack of real Camels looks like:

The American pallate is sold to them and that is why you get all this super artificial flavored made out of cheap ingredients/additives/shelf life/legalities for bigger profits type product.

but don't skimp on the advertising and graphics!!! because that is what will subliminally hook people to the product and then will come the bonding to the branding when they see their friends using the same thing.

Same thing with Budweiser, Coors Light, Folgers, Cheez Wiz, Ragu etc...

                        I am with you guys.

It is sad that if I put a product in a shiny package and marketed it as the thing everyone is doing it could taste like sweaty nutsack and still sell.

I am sure some people like the taste of sweaty nutsack but the majority would buy the cool packaging and use it regardless.

Sweaty nutsack snus new from the makers of camel!

I'd be happy if they just changed the name of the (real) Camel snus into whatever and sold it here. It's whats inside the can that counts, and Camel White was my favorite snus.

+1! I currently use a lot of SM snus, but I'm looking to change that after seeing this EU crap go down. They certainly are not looking out for us. Support the little guays!

I got a comment on my blog once and it made sense. Sad to say this but American's like sweet. Tobacco companies do a lot of research and testing before releasing a new product and American tobacco market responds best to overly sweet products. Sad but true. They just wouldn't respond well right now to a traditional Swedish taste. In time that may change, but for now it is what it is.
