RE GN Tobacco, TSNA, and "heat pasteurization"

Ok, to respond to some PM's and clear up an issue.

As we know, GNT does not steam pasteurize their snus. They use an older format called heat pasteurization.

For those who have been asking, I have recently viewed reports from Eurofins (which tests snus for everyone, even Swedish Match) and the TSNA levels are at or below current standards/GothiaTek standards. Though I can't actually publish the exact number, I can say that they're acceptable to me and on par with steam pasteurized snus.

    Hope that helps you guays!

Will refrigeration hinder TSNA growth for heat pasteurized snus?

Refrigeration is always a plus. See:

      http://www.tobacco.org/News/010622BostonRe.html

"The TSNA levels in the two leading U.S. snuff brands, accounting for 69 % of the 1999 U.S. market (14), were found to increase during 6 months storage at room temperature between 30 and 130 %, while the TSNA concentration in the Swedish brand increased inconsequentially."

If studies show this why dont American snus/snuf/dip/chew manufacturers chill their products as well ,, im sure someone would just hate gettin a chilled can of skoal or cope etc. realy they need to wake up and revamp the business as usual attitude. i dont think price is an issue as they can stock a cooler full of 99 cent sodas all day.

Yeah, back in the day they liked to put all those smokeless tobacco products in plain view by the windows with the hot sun beating down on them.

Cooking up who knows what kind of TSNA monsters

Just found this old thread, with info from Adrian about the process GN/Gajane use - http://www.snuson.com/forum/showthre...amp-GN-tobacco

I had no idea they used a different process, but it's good to know it checks out OK.
