Social interaction. I still go outside and sit on the porch while me wife smokes, drink a few cold ones, and talk. All the while, I have a sterk in, and she smokes, that to me, is the hardest part of quitting smoking. after a year, it's a lot easier, but at first, it was rough.

There is no point to cigarettes. After sterks and ekstra sterks I can't even feel a cigarette anymore and crave a snus after putting it out. Pipes and cigars are much more enjoyable/flavorful now to me that I kicked the cigs. I smoke a couple of bowls or maybe one cigar per week as a reward for not buying a pack of Camels.

As a health hazard smoking is hard to top. As a satisfying sensory experience it is equally hard to top, for a great many people. If it weren't so grotesquely bad for me I'd be puffing like a locomotive. Quitting the sticks with snus is hardly a slam dunk although it definitely works better than almost any other cessation method. You have to be well motivated to quit for the taste profiles and manner of nic delivery of snus to really work well for you. If that motivation is lacking then you can chain sterks till heck freezes over and the joys of lighting up will still strongly beckon.

Smoking is really great, and I too would smoke like a locomotive if it weren't for the bad health effects. But the health risk makes smoking really stupid... especially when there actually is a grandly safer alternative for your nicotine delivery.
