Holy crap I take back my comment I was expecting like twenty what's up with this 15 crap, I don't want 15 that's ridiculous it was ridiculous when camel went to 15. Where did this magic 15 come from, if it's not half priced I wouldn't buy it.

There MAY have been some truth in this. I just did a little write up on my blog about it, I'll share what I know so far.

            --
Today, General Snus announced on their Facebook page, "Big news is coming soon from General® Snus. Check back on Monday and be one of the first to find out." Wall Street Journal shortly thereafter dropped a new article online (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...googlenews_wsj), titled "Swedish Snus Maker Sets Sights on U.S. Market". They go on to say, "Smokeless-tobacco giant Swedish Match AB, the dominant maker of snus in Scandinavia, plans to begin a major push into the category in the U.S. in the coming months. The company, which to date has only dipped its toes into the small-but-growing segment of the U.S. smokeless-tobacco industry, is unveiling two new versions of its General brand for American consumers and sharply expanding retail distribution starting this month. Initial markets will be Chicago, Dallas and Philadelphia, executives said in an interview Thursday." It is my sincere hope that Swedish Match pushes forward in a major way to get REAL Snus on the shelves of every store in America (much like Camel has done with their "SNUS").

In April, a guy on YouTube put up a video about some products he was testing in the USA that were a new type of General, they came in the "coffin" type cans that the old Nick & Johnny East and West came in, and were in two flavors, Smooth Taste and the other one was Nordic Ice or Nordic Mint - it was some type of mint. There were 15 portions in the tins he tested. At the time, I thought this was part of the news about the Ettan products being launched in the US, but this test was something completely different.

A few days ago, Larry at SnusCENTRAL put up an article about a Secret US Snus Summit. I was to attend this today, but due to a series of unfortunate events I missed my flight. This news was posted from Wall Street Journal within the past hour, so it remains to be seen what news will come out of this US Snus Summit. I'm hoping to hear soon from my sources.

I hope they have some strong "classic" flavors.

It worries me a little bit.. If they become popular (which you know they will) they will become targets of the antitobak crowd. It worries me that they will be forced to make concessions of nic content etc.. What do you think?

I've been mixed on this issue myself. It's like I want people to try snus and everyone use it and see tons of people quit smoking with it.

The other part of me likes it as a niche product. Everytime I hear some yokel say "snuhs" it just makes me mad.

But then again, it's our job to help educate people!

Thanks for the updated information Chad. I want to try the natural flavor -- I assume it's General Long Sterk in a coffin can, but perhaps it will be different.

Bumping this thread in light of chad's semi-recent reviews.
Any news on expected date for full availability? Or if "full availability" will be gas stations, etc, or just the token places that sell the usual few general cans?

If you haven't yet, check out buysnus site, they show nordic mint and I am excited about this for 3 reasons: good for sm to compete with camel, awesome coffin tin although I'd like to see one even slimmer someday and I forgot the third....anyway...I'll be stocking up on these and hoping they are sold locally at some point! I'm a sucker for non-round tins of snus and with a good snus inside!!!???? That just makes my day!!
