Who is in charge of this marketing effort? Northerner? Some other outfit?
Ettan Snuff

The fact that it's in a chiller may help. Camel has done a lot to show people that tobacco products kept cold can be associated with snus. Maybe that or...
General/SM is going to start using the snus because Camel has made such a bad name for snus (as has Altria) that they want to make a name in snuff as a completely different thing from snus and dip?
Who knows. I don't know why the snuff name is being used, all I know is I'm glad Ettan is coming to the US. Some people don't like General and don't want Mint. Ettan is very approachable to newbies, it was the first non flavored/mint/fruity snus I tried. And I liked it.
I think this is good.

I don't like using the term snuff for snus. Imo, separation between dip and snus should always be maintained. The nod can be given to snus' redneck heritage, but it should be treated as an upscale product, and not something for Billy Bob and his spit can. Market it from the top down. Northern urbanites, and upper tier southerners(business owners, executives) should be the target, and let it trickle down to the plebeians over time.

I personally would not mind a snuff type cut but fully understand changing a already great existing product. It still is strange to label it as SNUFF even if it is the standard version.
Although, maybe it will be assumed in the future that if the words "Swedish" are on a can that it is going to be the "Swedish" standard los cut. Similar to how Pioneer has done it.

YES .. taken from wiki: Snus (pronounced /ˈsnuːs/) or Swedish snuff, is a moist powder tobacco product originated from a variant of dry snuff in the early 19th century in Sweden.Confusingly, the English word snuff is translated to snus in Swedish and the word snuff is, often incorrectly and outside Sweden, used to refer to both the inhaled form and the placed under the lip form of snus/snuff.

they are probably calling it snuff to help with sales. No one knows what snus is and most people don't like what they aren't familiar with. I don't think its a half bad idea personally. It will get more people to buy it and like it, and I wouldn't be surprised if later down the road they start calling it snus. They are just appealing to the consumer and who cares what its called...its what is inside that is important.
