Believe it not i have to smoke again for a while

As some of you know i got this freaky disease called Ulcerative Colitis/Chrons they still dont know yet which one I have. Alot of folks like me who quit smoking developed it. I know none of you guys have so I'm the lucky one. I started getting symptoms of my ailment today unfortunately and did a little more research about the smoking connetion.

Read this thread for example.. it only has a few posts but you can see I'm not making this up

    http://www.healthboards.com/boards/s...d.php?t=337906

Can you believe there is one positive respect to smoking?? Ha!

I bummed a couple cigs today and they were freakin horrid so once my symptoms die down ill be back to just snussin and snuffin. What I'm going to do is just smoke 4 a day with snus in between. Wish me luck guys.

If you are wondering why I'm not on meds is because right now I can't afford it. My wife called a week supply would cost 176.00.. More expensive than Northerner! I keed.

Eric, ya gotta do whatever it takes to ease the pain.

I doubt 4 cigs a day will have a devastating effect on the rest of your health.

Best of luck in getting well.

I'm not sure how yours is presenting itself if it's . You can get cheap loperamide which will help buy it at Sams club if you can. You can get like a bottle of 350 for $5

No it's an anti diarrheal. Like I said tho sometimes taking 2 a day will prevent flare ups of IBS. Also it is good to treat flareups. You can get it at wal-mart as well, if you just wanted to try it for a week or so. Usually it is recommended for mild symptoms, but also it may help stop the flare up. Check it out Here. Like I said just throwing it out there, but the stuff is harmless so it's worth a shot. There's a reason they sell it in such big Quantities.

No problem man, I'm not a doctor, IBS effects everyone differently. But I know one thing for sure if presented with no option or something I could try to get relief, I'm trying it. Like i said I don't know how yours is presenting itself or how bad it is. But anyway now you know about it at least and can do research and make an informed decision for your self.....

I've found my self smoking quite much over these past weeks.
But I've started Taekwondo and think I need to put everything with nicotine on the shelf.
The last 30 minutes of the class is pure pushups and situps.

Eric I feel for you homie. I have IBS-C in a major way. For the uninitiated that means my bowels are configured and programed in such a way that I suffer from severe chronic constipation on a daily basis. I guzzle shocking amounts of Medimucil every night, old man style, just to stay normal. It's genetic, and I have my maternal grandmother *and* my father to thank for the problem. Both sides. I can relate to the fact that a cig settles the stomach like nothing else. In know from your posts that your situation is a lot worse... Best of luck in your management of these problems and stay away from onions! they will **** your shit up... at least for me they do...

I am not a doctor although I have played doctor before...

I know you have been on and out of the hospital and have had tons of tests but did they check out your gallbladder? I know quite a few people who had mystery gi issues and once tha gall bladder was removed....easy street.

                            hey eric

my brother (we're TWINS) has chron's disease and still smokes but he is trying very hard to quit smoking because it doesn't do any good for his health.

I am shoked to hear that you have started smoking again to heal Chron's (or of some sort) ...

it sucks big time ... been smoke free for a while and I can hardly believe I would be a smoker again in my whole life.

if you want to talk with my brother about Chrons some time I will send you his username on this forum via PM

                            cheers guys :P
