On second thought, how about puting a small clump of damp paper towel in the can when it is about 75% gone ? That would keep the contents moist without affecting the flavor.

This all seems like too much work to me, the only time I have noticed my snus losing freshness was before I stored them in the fridge.

Now I can keep a can on my desk and open it a few times, but as long as they all go back in the fridge if I'm not going to snus for a few hours then I don't notice any difference.

I suggested unused film cannisters so that flavor would not be added/muddied by another product that was originally stored in the can being used.
Again, UNUSED fim cans; who wants to taste Kodak's chemicals?!?

Ah, I should have known you were a mathemetician by the way you were doing your division. Ah, well, at any rate, let us know how it works out.

And I'll tell you one more thing to illustrate my obsessive style about these kinds of things. I told you I will be removing 6 portions at a time from the main can. How did I decide on 6? I calculated the average number of exposed days per portion, if I were to remove n portions at a time, and then minimized that over all n that divide evenly into 24. It was a tie between n=4 and n=6. Since 6 at a time involves fewer transfers from the main can, I went with that one.
Though realistically it's highly unlikely that I will ever have a snus regimen organized via mathematical principle, I find this really interesting. Thanks.

I just wanted to follow-up by reporting that my experiment was a success. Of course, I didn't measure the moistness of the portions in any clinical way, so my declaration of "success" is purely subjective. But I am much happier with the freshness of the last few portions in my one-a-day cans now, and I see MUCH less difference between the last portion of one can and the first portion of the next.

 I'm noding along and chewing my lower lip with intrest!
I am what pop psycology calls a "type A" (Highstrung, anal-retentive and prone to strokes) and this thread is not helping my desperate quest to become a "type B" without the use of "medication".

Just use the medication, it's a heck of a lot easier.

I made the transition from type A to type B only when I decided to smoke pot every day when I was 25. Wanting to make that transition, and becoming aware of how pot helped me make that jump was the strongest reason that I had when I decided to smoke regularly. Now, 18 years later, I am most grateful for that decision. I am far happier with my self as a B then I ever was when I was an A.

But I did almost choke up with laughter when I read this thread. Way too much work for me know, I just take them as they come.

Thanx for the advice (I am making progress...)

Well, I just reread the thread and realized something. I made a change to my method and never posted about it. I didn't actually do what I said in the thread. Instead, I did something simpler.

I'll explain with the example of Skruf Stark, which is my one-a-day, in the morning, snus. I took a new can of Skruf, opened it, took a portion, and then placed 3 portions in the "ash tray." So for the next 3 days, I only had to open the ash tray. The main can stayed sealed and fresh. When the 3 in the ash tray were gone, I opened the main can again, took a portion, and placed another 3 in the ash tray. And so on. In the end, the main can was only opened 6 times, instead of 24. I noticed a major difference in how fresh the last few portions looked near the end of the 24 days.
