Here in Portland, I have only seen Camel as a local snus. Any Portlanders know of any others that are sold locally? Just for a try when I am in pinch.
Tourney Snus

I would definitely stick with Triumph in terms of an in-between-orders brand, but if Tourney's all that's available it'd work. As far as American Snus brands I've tried Camel, Triumph, and Tourney, and Triumph is definitely the best, as well as the most reminiscent of Swedish snus. Other than Taboka (which I don't plan on trying due to thr reviews I've seen so far) what are the other American brands out there right now?

Most "American brands" appear to be of Swedish manufacture in agreements with American tobacco companies. I can think of Camel, Lucky Strike, Marlboro, Triumph, SkoalDry, Tobaka, Tourney and Grand Prix coming sometime this month. The big companies are getting in the game, but their trial results are abysmal. Smokers try a tin and go back to cigs immediately.

I just found this site by accident and this is my first post. Anyway I recently picked up a pack of Tourney Snus and really don't find them too bad. Definitely much better than the Camel version and it seems like they have more nicotine. It is similar to some of the more inexpensive Swedish brands but seems to be less moist. I'm wondering if they use less water to make it more stable for transportation and stocking in stores. Altogether not great but they will do in a pinch. My main issue is that white portions irritate my gums a little, it helps a bit if I take a sip of water and moisten the portion after placing it under my lip.

Originally posted by SubtiloHm, yes, I see what you mean. Guess I'm just into more simple designs, Knox, Skruf and such. They're so clean and neat
I still don't get why SM changed the General design. The old one was really classy.
But there is nothing wrong with a touch of ol'school (thinking the upcoming Jakobssons and also the regular Gotland can with the nice old goat on the lid).
Again, it's so superficial, I know ... what really matters is the snus itself.
It might not be the primary reason to buy a snus, but packaging does matter. That's the biggest reason I don't get Taboca. The physical tin is nice, but the graphics are ugly as hell. The snus is first rate, but I have others I like just as well(Gotland), so the tin is the deal breaker for me. Not the best reason to dismiss a snus, but it is a consideration.

thanks for the pictures I love the visuals. SO Tourney is only in Michigan and ohio?
I dont think grand prix exists, i have been looking for it and called the company, the woman on the phone was extremely rude and said she had no information on the product. Maybe Ill call her back and ask about tourney.

It ain't for nothing the Swedes put a best-by date on the bottom along with max. storage temperatures.
Oh yeah, a big welcome to you too ;-)

The best thing about the Tourney SNUS is that its available all over the midwest. Christ, it seems like there is a Speedway on every corner! I think the stuff is pretty damn good. Certainly better than Triumph. And its a better price too. Yeah, the packaging is a little out of date, but i agree, its just retro.

Just ran out of my last Sweedish order and found Tourney at Speedway (Indianapolis). Without any prior knowledge that it even existed, I picked up a $2.69 can, because even for free the Marlboro snus (exactly the same as Taboca, plus one extra flavor) doesn't cut it. Haven't tried the Camel, Triumph, or any other American brands to compare, but the Tourney strikes me as something that could easily have appeared in one of my Northerner or BuySnus orders. It's not great, but at least it's the real deal in a real pouch. I HATE those hard little Marlboro and Taboca pouches, plus they're TINY.
I agree with the poster who said he'd give it a 6 out of 10, with the rating higher than it would otherwise be because of convenience. And FWIW, I threw one in this morning (not normally a morning snuser) and got a little buzz, so there's something going on there. It's not great, but I hope it sticks around, because I'm really bad at anticipating my next order. I just don't go through snus very fast, so it's usually a couple months for me between orders.
The no refrigeration thing worried me, too, but this first can (original) seems to taste ok, and I stuck it in the refrigerator as soon as I got it home. As the weather heats up and these things sit on the shelves a little longer, our mileage may vary. Good luck convincing Speedway that they need to refrigerate it though.

I know that Rocker Snus didn't require refrigeration due to their packaging process. I never tried them but I have heard that they were decent. As oxidation is the enemy of freshness I'm assuming that the Tourney Snus must be flushed with nitrogen or CO2 during the packaging. Also factor in that they are a dry-white portion then the lack of refrigeration may not be an issue. One problem they may have is when consumers see both Tourney and Camel in a store and notice that the Camel is refrigerated they may assume that it is a superior product. I've been using the Tourney original for a week now as I'm waiting on a shipment from BuySnus and I have grown quite fond of them. They work much better if you either wet them first or take a sip of water after taking it and irrigating the area under your lip. It's strange but I think the ugly-ass logo is growing on me.

Hi Mr. Coolrollin and welcome, you are gona hate the real stuff [swedish snus] if you think the tourney is awful, especally if you actually like the camel and marlboro snus.Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I killed because they were annoying......
I've been wrong lots of times. Lots of times I've thought I was wrong only to find out that I was right in the beginning.
