Your tastes will change, give it a month or so and a lot of flavors you didn't originally like you will love.

I wish I believed you guys but my view of it is like this... If you don't like vodka, you won't like it in a day, week, month or year. Even the highest quality vodka....is still vodka. Maybe I just like tobacco but not salt. Or maybe I don't like sooooo much salt in my tobacco. Too much salt on a steak just kills the flavor and I really don't want to have to use this stuff untill I am desensitized to salt itself just to taste these subtle flavors of tobacco. WHY did they have to make snus SO SALTY. Probe is not wicked salty, and has a nice smokey tobacconess about it. Why is there only one company making a "different" tasting product. It's like there are 1,000 companies making cola...and only ONE making Sprite or Mountain dew. Everyone rags on american "snus" for being so sweet. Well how about swedish snus being WAY WAY OVER SALTED. The american stuff is not nearly as sweet as the swedish stuff is salty. Just use American snus for a month, you will eventually learn to like it. You won't notice the sweetness as much anymore and will taste the subtle flavors behind the sugar. hahaha know what I mean?

Ok, got that out of my system. I am just frustrated. Swedish Snus might save my life if it keeps me off american tobacco. And YES I KNOW AMERICAN SNUS IS NOT REAL SNUS because it is not steam pasteurized and has higher TSNA counts.

The difference is there is something behind the salt. American snus has absolutely nothing behind the sugar. What you get on your first portion, is what you'll get on your 1,000th portion. Artificial flavor, artificial sugar, artificial snus ;^)

It has PLENTY behind the sugar. Mouth Cancer, tooth loss, gum disease, throat cancer, toung cancer, and, behind all of that stuff....a little bit of tobacco that was swept up off the factory floor left over from cigarette production

You could try Jakobsson's wintergreen. There isn't anything else like Probe. It's pretty much one of a kind. I'd suggest holding on to the rejects. You might find you like them better with experience.

                  :^D

I wouldn't worry /too/ much about the health effects of American snus. I don't trust it like I do the Swedish brands, but I suspect it isn't much worse health wise, if at all. My problem is the quality, and one dimensional flavor profile. Staying with your alcohol analogy; American snus is like peach schnapps, while Swedish snus is like highland malt :^)

Well honestly the only reason we say that is because it's pretty much true across the board. Like at one time, I used to hate Gotlands Anis. Now I love it. My first real Swedish snus, can't remember what it was now, but the drip and salt nearly killed me. I had to have a bottle of water on hand. These days, I don't even bother to fluff my portions anymore. I just toss them in my mouth and let my tongue adjust them. As a matter of fact, I find myself sucking some portion like they were hard candy. Not sure how healthy that is, but I can assure you, your tastes will acclimate to the salt and pepper.
Did you see what I just did there? I used one of Sage's words.....acclimate.
Anyway, let me ask you a question: How long have you been using Swedish snus now?

I too thought that every snus was WAY too salty at first (especially white portions). But I've grown to like most of those varieties rather quickly, and they no longer taste too salty. Food still tastes the same

A couple of less-salty ones you might like are Ettan Original and Oden's Original. Phantom/Rothbrix Brown is less salty also.

No problem! Just put any crappy tasting plain snus up on the exchange dirt cheap and get rid of it.

The salt regulates the pH and aids in nicotine absorbtion. Everyone is telling you correctly bro, after about two weeks or so, the salt fades into the background. Months down the road you'll miss tasting the saltiness...at least I did. Hang in there, keep a bottle of water with you for awhile and after some time you'll be telling some new guy on the boards the same thing you're hearing now. ;-)

Oh and the Jakobsson's Wintergreen and Mint are really good...give them a try, they're good.

Nooooooo don't listen to them. They have no idea what they are talking about. The only decent snus out there is General Wintergreen. Everything else should go up on the exchange.
